You came to the right place. I would highly recommend you read the PROWLER STORY on the main page menu. Decide which color you like the best. Look at the ads and see what you think might be of interest. Then ask if there is anyone close by that can go take a look at it for you. You will usually be in luck. |

Thank You for the input Ed. I loved the Prowler when it first came out and always wanted one. I was waiting for my mid life crisis and it finally hit LOL. I have bought and sold many cars in my day so I kinda know what to look for. |

My best advise would to not get stuck on a specific year and find one that has had the fewest owners and has been maintained. Then find a few colors you like then buy. |

I like red but my wife likes silver so either is fine. Thinking 2000 or 2001. I would like to find one with under 10k miles and has always been garaged. Willing to travel to find one and have it shipped. My down time is in the winter so that's when I will probably buy. This message has been edited by Landscape Doctor on 08-20-2014 at 05:42 AM |

Double what Got above says about the tires and rims. My 2cents, watch out for used car dealers, I think you will do better from an original owner. If you can have someone familier with the car have them check it out. There was a very nice red one with custom paint and some light mods for sale on this board that I wish I had bought instead of the one I got off eBay. |

Obviously, you want one well cared for. Any year Prowler is very good. And if you can't find a Candy Red, it doesn't manner what color you get. They're all very nice. |

Hi and welcome! Based on my experiences and the posts I've read since becoming a Prowler owner, I would look for: * Original tires - even with full tread, they can be dangerous at 15 years+ old and expect $600 to $1000 to replace * A Yellow Prowler, because that's the best color IMO * 2000 or later models had a few improvements made to the trunk liner (molded instead of sagging carpet), speaker encasement behind the seats and a few other items. But I also believe I read somewhere the shocks had been changed that caused some problems for the later models. I'm sure someone will correct me if I am wrong but I think that cost some owners a chunk of money to fix * Decide if you like bumpers or not and buy accordingly. Purchasing a bumper to add them can cost up to $1100 each new. Replacing the bumpers with a turn signal relocation kit is between $500 to $700 new depending where you buy & the style you prefer. * Some models are more limited in production than others, you may want to research that. * You may also want to look through posts that show modifications and aftermarket parts, determine its cost and see if you can find one that already has those goodies, like modified body panels, aforementioned bumper removal relo kit, lambo doors, new gears, etc.. Might be cheaper to buy one with the mods already done... may be a long shot, but you never know what you may find. At the very least, if there are mods you want to do, you'll know before you buy how much you're looking at to do them if the car doesn't have them. * And as mentioned before, if you find a car you're interested in, reach out to people on here, there may be someone in that area where the car is located that can go check out the car for you. Hope that helps! |

What are your plans for your Prowler ?... keep it stock, do some mild mods or go crazy and make it unique... ? If airbrush work is in your future Black is the best base color to start with according the artists... If not, then its all about your favorite color... ps: I was going to keep mine stock when I first purchased it... |

The 99s have a trunk lid liner, at least the later part of the year. The early releases MAY not have it, I am not sure. Both of my 99 Reds had the liner. They also had the same rear speaker enclosures as the 2000 and newer. Bumpers can be had fairly cheap used. There are tons of fronts available. You might have to be patient to get the correct color bumper but you can get them. Don't pass up what you want due to lack of bumpers. |

Mine is an early '99 and has the saggy trunk lid carpet and cheap looking speaker enclosure. They must have made the change mid-year. [QUOTE]Originally posted by ed monahan: |

The Candy for sale in Fla. is a great deal. I would jump on that one if I was in the market for a Prowler. |
