As newbie i am very happy that i have been able to find this site as i have found so many ideas for my new Prowler. The bad news is i am based in Dubai and the 2001 Prowler that i have purchased engine is in dire need of repair. The quality of the custom fabricators is not very good and i am desperate to install a V8 into this car. I have viewed the Hemi conversions which looks wonderful. I have tried to contact performance innovations but the website seems to have a fatal error. Does someone have a contact no for them. Alternatively i am trying to find a fabricator that will supply me most of the conversion parts excluding the engine. Regards Edward |

Hello, Sent a PM to treyb. He is a member of this site and did the complete conversion to a HEMI V8. He is the best to help you along before you decide to step into the challenge of this massive conversion. Might also check out this link where he shows the car and gives an interview. Special thanks to everyone from ECP that was there in person and eveyone on POA for all of your support and feedback !! We did it. http://www.livestream.com/dodge/video?clipId=pla _7eaf9536-f4de-40b4-9604-b2fdad182878&utm_source=lslibrary&utm_medium=ui-thumb Good luck, Kees

Thank you for the quick reply. The current engine i have has 18000 miles on it and it has overheated and run bearings. There are no Prowler replacement engines in the market and the local Chrysler dealer has limited stock of parts. The cost to refurbish the engine from the dealer is ridiculous and outside labour/ mechanics are not well equipped. Were these engines used in any other Chrysler model? Possibly i could try and find a replacement engine. Regards |

Or, you could get a custom built 5.0L Stroker engine from One Cat No Dog at BAD KITTY PERFORMANCE PARTS for the Prowler. It would bolt right in, and give you a V-8 like sound and feel without all the modifications, headaches and expense associated with putting in a hemi. The 5.0 is not cheap, but would be way less than a hemi conversion. It is an option... This message has been edited by EdsCat on 08-06-2014 at 06:10 AM |

Here is my honest feedback, its more than most people maybe interested in but it's the truth. A wise man (named Dean) once told me a long time ago there is nothing simple, easy or cheap to go fast in a Prowler. Before going into my adventure I called or spoke with pretty much anyone one that I could find that ever built a high performance car. For anyone who took the Hemi route and finally got through it most never wanted to do it Again. Like most things custom for the prowler you find there is not many that can stay in business doing it long term and the money to work return is not there. I consider myself luckily. Very lucky and it was a very hard process and I was involved in every step to get it across the finish line and back home. Read 15 pages of drama . fun trial and error http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum9/HTML/003447.html TV guide edited version by Allpar http://www.allpar.com/fix/engines/SRT-Prowler-project.html I took a big risk and I don't think you will ever see another 6.1 Hemi shaker prowler like this again that is actually driven weekly, used and not just a showpiece , works without issues, doesn't overheat and is still serviced by a local NJ Chrysler dealer and I can get 80% of my parts off the shelf from Mopar. What I'm saying is these are one off custom cars. Many of the pretty things you see at shows or one cool build video on the web and never again on the track or street tells you something. The one thing you have to do is find someone you trust and know that it may not be what you think, there is no guide book and no guarantees. Do your research and know what your getting into and be realistic that whoever builds it probably will be around to fix it in the future. There is way more than meets the eyes. Putting it in many can do getting it to work is the challenge. If I was in Dubai with very low Mopar dealers I would buy a used US prowler 3.5 motor- your talking 2.5k to 3k. Low mileage Drop it in and enjoy it for awhile. A guy in Australia brought mine and put it on the shelf. At the same time buy the new hell cat challenger with 707hp and a factory Warrenty for 60k and have it shipped to go fast. You will be more happy and pay less! If you want a quicker turn more fast but safe v6 option buy that US motor before sending it over seas maybe ask westec if they are still doing it do a basic mild 4.0 stroke to it and then drop it in. http://www.westechauto.com There is also the onecat 5.0 but note this is also a special custom build build takes time and involves very special one off parts. I know of a few guys over seas that tried that ship me V8 parts. Those cars are still sitting. There is 1 shop in Florida that did the Hemi hi boy. He posted on here 2 times have not seen much more of that car recently. You could ask them if they would do another one. Share the results and feedback. You can call me or pm me I will share all I know. We also have over 40 documented videos from the track, to street to top Car shows that we drove too. I don't own a trailer. The daily rant weekly car shows and adventure continues at www.facebook.com/hemiprowler This message has been edited by treyb on 08-06-2014 at 11:15 PM |

quote: If you truly want a one off car then buy another here have it shipped to either the guys in Florida or to Treys guy have them build it. The engine they remove ship to you and install in the car there. Then you would have a totally stock cat and a Hemi cat Just my thoughts |

The most cost effective route is to build a mild 3.5L V-6 stroker engine in the 4.2L to 4.3L range. A core can be used, the work completed and the engine crated and shipped to you for a drop in installation locally. The combination has been proven and the chance for success very high. Call or email Norm Brandes or Jim at 262-889-4346 or email them at westech@westechauto.com They have also done 5.0L V-6's like John Collins (onecatnodog) at Mile High Prowlers. Both solutions work well but exceed the limits of the power train causing other issues. They are very fast but require the driver to be carefully. Heating is an issue where you are. The smaller Westech solution better fits your needs and gives you a measurable increase in performance for the price. |

If you really want to do a Hemi conversion, it was done by a friend of mine in Florida. I'm sure that he would do another but you'd have to send the car to him for conversion. There's too much work involved to try and do it somewhere else. |

quote: Stationed in Dubai? If that means you're in the US Military you must be a General. That's a very expensive place to live and have nice cars to let a dealer work on. Wouldn't it be easier to buy a prowler that's had a V8 already installed and tested, then ship it to Dubai? A lot of mechanics and shops would be afraid to try something this custom, even here in the USA. I've noticed the several I've seen on Utube that have a V-eight just show the prowler cruising around or maybe passing a car,I've never seen one that shows the prowler doing everything it can from a dead stop. I'm sure the transaxle in the prowler was not meant to go from 250 hp to 450 hp. Getting the engine installed might be just the beginning of the problems. Just my thoughts. I could be wrong, its happened before. Good luck and keep us posted. This message has been edited by Gort on 08-06-2014 at 08:20 AM |

Hello Edward, Congrats on your Kat, I am sure you came to the right place when it comes anything related to the "Prowler" Unfortunate to hear about the engine situation i am the closest person who understands when you say the mechanics in Dubai are not well equipped or not very familiar with the Prowlers. I have the same problem because i too live in Dubai and have 2 Prowlers. I hope we meet up one day & discuss more. Anyway hold on tight its gonna be a wild ride |
