My malfunction indicator light came on my car this weekend. Has anyone else had this light come on?

Go to Autozone and tell them you need a code read. Have them print it up for you.

If you gas cap isn' on tight, a couple of clicks, you could set a code. There are hundreds of things that it could be.

Like Ed said, check the gas cap. Has happened to me a couple of times: it wasn't on properly. If that's the case then disconnect one of the battery cables for a couple of minutes, reconnect, & the light will go out. Do not take the car through any kind of state inspection until you've racked up at least 100 miles. This give the car's computer the needed mileage to reset.

if its the gas cap,all you need to do is go thru 3 drive cycles and the lite will go out and the code will erase itself.if thats the case.

Not saying this is the problem but it could also be a defective gas cap

I had a mechanic friend pull the code and clear the code on my car. Two codes came up - PO442 and PO455. He said for me to open my gas tank and put the cap back on and make sure it clicks. I then went and filled my car up and made sure the gas cap clicked. He said if the light comes back on he has another scanner that he can try.
