It has been about 3 months since I have driven the kat and I was going to move it out of the garage and discovered that my Die Hard Platinum battery was dead. This is the battery I purchased to replace my red top Optima that died on me last year (I purchased that one in 2003). I took it to Sears and they replaced it just like they said they would (it wouldn't hold a charge). The wife and I went for a drive, dropped by In-n-Out and enjoyed a nice drive. I was rather irritated at someone who walked by the kat (at In-n-Out) and said "what is a handicapped person doing driving a nice car, that's just not right." He was just a teenager though so I just let him rant and move on. It was nice getting out and about in the car again. We are thinking about taking it to Vegas in mid-June. My nephew is graduating and having his Eagle Court and we thought it would be a nice time to drive it. ------------------ |

Joyride - which battery tender are you using? The one I had died on me. JIM!! How are you? Yes, we have to get together again. It seems I never get out to the Ventura side of life, I am always on the LA County side. I am kind of glad I still have the Kat... I am sad that I can't clean her and drive her like she should but it is nice to have her there! I told this story in the classifieds section but... Before the boys left for college, I had them cleaning out the garage. They moved the car out (one of them took it up to the post office to get the mail) and then parked it in the driveway... I asked them... How come the car just sits here... you guys never drive it. OH MAN... the dirty looks I got!!! I am such a mean father! Now they are off on their missions (one in Argentina and the other in Paraguay) and have to walk everywhere. If I still have the kat when they get home... they will have to fight for who gets it. |

Since we're talking batteries, I'll pass on a weird story. Got my Kat last June ('99, 8K miles), noticed soon after that the battery seemed a little weak on starting, even though voltage was always 13.75 or better and it tested fine on my little tester. Finally took it in and paid $30 to have the whole system load tested, they said everything was fine, even when they could have sold me a battery. Just to be sure, I also started keeping it on a smart charger or float charger, but nevertheless it stuck me in a Walgreen's parking lot the other day; had to have a friend come give me a jump (embarrassing!). So, went out and got a new battery, seems fine now but I still don't understand it - goes against everything I thought I knew about car batteries. Any ideas? |

My heart goes out to those who are prevented by weather from driving MissKitty at least once a week. Jed said Move away from there, south of I40, where you at least have a chance. The more i drive 'Pain&Sufferin', the less gremlins manifest, the better she rolls. |

I have three battery tenders. Two name brand and one for a lot less money at Harbor Freight. They all work fine and have used for several winters now while we are in Florida. |
