I'm looking at buying a Kat.
What are the common issues or problems these cars have and what should I look for?
Thanks

Hi there and welcome to the forum.

There is a wealth of information to be found in the archives of this site and the people here generally speaking are the best.
Most here are absolutely willing to help in whatever way they can.

With that said take some time to look in the technical questions & answers section as well as the Prowler reproduction parts discussion section.
The subjects discussed in those sections should give you some insight as to the issues to be aware of.

Keep in mind that these cars were mostly hand built and limited production. Do not be deterred by the uniqueness of the car but rather be enthused by it.

There are some differences between the earlier and later cars but for the most part one is as good as the other.

Best of luck finding the right Prowler for yourself, it will change your life in a positive way.

Thanks,
Yes, I have been looking at the technical questions & answers section. From what I can see so far there are common issues with the cd players and front ends?

So, I thought, I better ask the people who own them!!!!
I'm looking at a 2001, but open to other cars as well.
Are they easy to service your self or does one have to take it to a mech. for everything?

Good luck on finding the one for you. I may be able to assist you in a 97 if you change your mind on that 01.

I also replied to you in the technical section.
I'm not too sure what problems you're referring to on the front end. There was a recall issue with the lower ball joint. Other than that, some had dynamic shocks that leaked. The koni's didn't leak and are still available. And the hood shocks go bad, but we have better replacements for those, or you could go with a prop rod.
