Meets Osha standards. Installs easily by placing hard top on head. Note that it is adjustable. Can be purchased at your local hardware stores, but mine was provided to me free of charge, so I am unable to quote you a price. I hope this helps. |

As TUIB aka Larry said.........they are all from Metalcrafters. They give the car a totally different look. You gain a few more inches of headroom and with the lighter liner cover (than the black of the convertible top), it gives the interior a lighter/roomier look. I find they are quieter (than if the convertible top is up). Installation is easy. I don't know about anyone else, but I can't put the top on by myself (I'm only 5' tall). Easy for my husband and me, though (not sure of the weight, but I'm guessing around 30 lb.). They have adjustable pins that fit into the same holes the convertible top does and latches exactly the same, too. When we purchased mine, the price was in the low $3,000. However, that price was for painted tops. They no longer paint them, so they are just primer and I don't know what the current price is. They also have a hardtop stand and cover available for purchase around $300 for both (unless that has changed, too). Underside/liner
------------------ The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche. This message has been edited by CJ on 06-01-2009 at 09:32 AM |

I leave the soft top in the car. When I store my cats for the winter, I take off the hardtops and put the soft top back up. |

The reason why i ask is, my friend left his top in the car and worn a hole through it from vibration, i rarely put the top down, but i have noticed a few spots with wear marks on it. |

You need to tie the soft top down so it doesn't bounce up and down as much. You can also put a towel or wash cloth between the trunk carpet and the soft top so it doesn't rub. |

he did all that and still rub a hole in it, luckily it was still under warranty and the dealer replaced it. |

At least he was able to get it replaced. I have always used a heavy towel (like a bath towel and I even found one the same color as the trunk interior). I tuck it over the entire edge. Have been doing that for years and thankfully, have not had any tear issues. |

Is it hard to remove the softtop to prevent wear?....I am going to run mine with a hardtop 24/7 365....I am starting to look for a Prowler now....I do have one tenativley picked out already...Thanks guys the tops look great....I sold my last Prowler cause I didnt like the softtop look and the rear end with all of that suspension showing and the bumpers up front....Adding the hardtop, the front bumper/signals kit, belly pan for the rear and paint to match the rear bumpers will give the car the exaact look I am seeeking...al |
