I did a search on pedal cars and found quite a bit of information. It seems they are not a very common item; in fact one older post said there was only 50 made. I have found someone with a yellow one for sale and wanted to know what a reasonable price would be. I have only seen a couple of pictures and it appears to be in fairly good condition. The bumpers are missing, but otherwise looks complete. I'm hoping to have a look at it tomorrow. Does anyone know of a source for parts, or does anyone on the POA have bumpers they would be willing to sell? Any help on price and parts availablity would be appreciated. |

There are no longer parts available from the manufacturer. Any one know what the front bumpers looked like? |

Not sure if this is what you are looking for, but do a search in free classifieds for pictures of go cart and pedal cars and there is a post started by Gary M. Hardy from 6-27-2005. Mike Krehel responded to the post and it has pictures. |

It's hard to place a value on them but I've seen them sell from $800 to $2,000, anything in there should be fair. I can send you pictures of the front and rear bumpers, please let me know if you still need them! Dave |

Thanks to everyone for their input, especially SuperDave for the production estimates and price range. I'm pretty sure I can buy this one for quite a bit less than $800. I still haven't had a chance to have a look at it, but hopefully over the weekend. Thanks again. |

I had a look at the pedal car today and it is the real thing. It has a tag on the left frame rail that says Midwest Industries, with a model number and serial number. It's all there, with the exception of the bumpers. The windshield is cracked and it could use new paint. I'm now trying to negotiate a deal with the seller. Does anyone know if the bodies only came in yellow, or were other colours available. |

Thanks for the correction Dave. I have seen 3 and they were all yellow so I just assumed...wrong, of course. Great set-up you have there! I painted mine purple (with the flames). Still looking for a Barbie car. This message has been edited by Simonsez on 11-22-2008 at 03:16 PM |

I was finally able to negotiate a deal and am now the owner of a yellow pedal car. As per my previous post, the bumpers are missing and the windshield is cracked, but overall seems in pretty good condition. It is serial number 50285. I tried posting pictures, as per the POA instructions, but when I click on the paper clip, nothing happens. Superdave, if your offer still stands, I would appreciate it if you could send me pictures of the front and rear bumpers, with the length, height and depth of the bumpers. I'll send you a private message with my email address. Thanks again for offering to do this. |

I picked up another yellow pedal car over the weekend. This one is in very good condition and still has the bumpers. When I picked it up, I asked the seller where he had got it and he said he had won it in a Gillette contest many years ago. When you bought a Gillette shaving product, you could fill out an enclosed form to win a Prowler pedal car and mail it in. Does any one remember such a promotion? I don't know if it was a Canadian promotion or for all of North American. The serial numbers of the 2 pedal cars I have are only 19 digits apart. The 2 serial numbers are 53266 and 53285. Do other members with pedal cars have serial numbers in this range? It seems hard to believe there were only 20 complete pedal cars built. This is the 3rd one I have seen on our local buy and sell website in the last year. I missed out on the 3rd one. |

Terry. When I bought mine it was a yellow body shell only! No floor, wheels, guts, anything. That helped me in determining making it a wagon. |
