Was at the LA Roadster Show in Pomona over the weekend and came across a vendor who does custom grilles He was showing grilles for 33-40 that he made all Stainless Steel and highly polished I asked if he made any for the Prowler I went in the back and brought out this.
Good things about it
Excellent workmanship on welds and polish
All vertical fins from Stainless Steel flat bar stock
A real work of art
Bad things:
He is booked out 19 months in work
Price is out by Saturn; $2600.00
Oh well one can dream!!!! Maybe if I owed a gas station!
Here's the picture!

...for that price, a piece of art should have a "smile" like the Mona Lisa

$2600 is steep. Did you notice the side mounting brackets about halfway down? Something I have not seen on any aftermarket grille before. Look at the left side of the picture.

Beware is right there are tabs on either side of the grille to attach the brackets that come off the stock grille.
Grace's grille has the same tabs on either side also
The contact info is as follows for all those out there that have $$$$ to burn:
Street Rod Grilles
Built by Don Starks Metal Art
2609 Mt Olympus Way
Twin Falls, Idaho 83301
208-736-8036
cell 208-539-5632
He has no web site yet says its being built
His work looks fantastic but I think a bit pricey
Just remember Buyer Beware!!!!!

I have a company working on a Horizontal grill in aluminum presently. It will be available in brushed, polished and chrome finish, 3 different prices. Hope to know more and and have a photo soon. It won't be $2600.00 either. I don't have any pricing as yet but will share any new info as soon as I get it. Hoping to have a proto-type to show at the "beach event".

That is so great to hear. Our options have been so limited, it's great to see that there are still folks out there that share our passion and want to offer something up.

I like the idea of it having a horizontal construction. JMO, but the more I think about it, the more I think that a vertical grill on the Kat looks a bit out of place. Kind of like a 300C with the blinged out grill; looks OK if that's your thing. But if you want a '32 Ford, then buy a '32 Ford. Don't try and make the Prowler into something it's not.

Looking forward to seeing pics.

Glad to see the positive feed back on the Horizontal Grill. I feel the same way John. The Horizontal grill is one thing that sets our car apart and although all of us have different opinions on how our car should look( that's why we do individual Mods.... were all individuals) I can appreciate all mods I see even though it may not be something I would change on my car. The vertical grills are nice, well done, and attractive...just not "my cup of tea". That is whay I decided to push to get a horizontal grill made. Everyone, will not find the horizontal grill as appealing as some of us......but that is okay too.
The manufacturer is extremely busy with producing present product and has made no promise of a delivery date for the proto-type, but he said he would try for the date in July I requested. He has been working on this for quite a while and I Thank "Mean Gene" for loaning me his spare grill to allow the manufacturer to use for this product.

Maybe the $2600 includes the stand.

It looks like its missing the bottom tab. Might be just the angle.

This vendor that I saw at the show said that he can also do the grille in a horizontal configuration. I did not ask details of that work. But I did see some other work for 40 Ford with both vertical and horizontal bars in the grille

I have had one of Don's Horizontal grills for abouut 2 years now and they are a piece of art. The price and time wait may sound bad, but they are worth every penny. I talk to Don at a lot of car events and he is a geat guy. It's only money when it comes to having the best. See Don's grill work on my car at the Hearst Castle trip next month.
