I recently bought my 01 Prowler and I've got a couple of questions. Actually many questions but I'll start with just two. I see most Prowler references on here are Kat and not Cat. What is the reason for this? My Kat (Cat?) is orange. I hear the color most often refered to as Burnt Orange but sometimes Orange Pearl. I assume these are the same color. Which name did Mopar use? Where did the other name come from? Bill (with so much to learn) Brown |

Why do you want to ask such a hard question? Just Kidding! Welcome, I like the Burnt Orange Pearl myself. But I don't have a Kat that color. ------------------ |

Welcome to the POA, glad you found us. Congrats on getting a Prowler. You can spell it either way or call it a Prowler. I am a smart a$$ but this is a serious suggestion. Read the Prowler story on the main menu. It is loaded with facts, figures and interesting tidbits, including the colors. The Facts and Stats also gives you all the info on how many of each color by year. The Prowler story was written and edited by some of the POA folks, who did a great job. I think the official name is Prowler Orange Pearl but that may not be correct. You can just add that to the list. Try to meet some local Prowler owners or better yet, try to make it to Woodward to meet almost 200 Prowler owners and the most Prowlers ever assembled in one place. This is going to rock, for real. |

I just noticed you are from Coshocton, OH. Rod & Vicki Endsley and Mac (Galaxie) & Bonnie MacKeown are from that general area. Hopefully they will pick up on this. They are great folks who won't lead you astray. I just looked and Bonnie & Mac are from Middleburg Hts. so that is not real close. Hey carguybill, Welcome to the POA. Don't feel you have to walk on ice around these guys. Questions, man ---- we love them. The more you ask, the more replies you will get. Heck, you may even ask a question that will have all of us scratching our heads because it's never been asked before. So question up dude, and welcome to the site. And to answer your question on the color : Prowler Orange Pearl Coat......According to the Plymouth Sales Catalog. |

Welcome. I do not think there is a definitive answer to the reason many if not most refer to it as a Kat. Here is my guess. Caterpillar heavy equipment is often referred to as Cat. To make the Prowler nickname as unique as the car itself, we call it a Kat. This message has been edited by BeWare on 07-22-2007 at 07:37 PM |

Hi carguybill, Welcome to the POA. Congrats on your new purchase. I also have a orange 2001 kat. This is a great site if you have questions about your car. Ask as many as you want. Someone will always chime in. August 15th. we have close to 200 kats going to Woodward. It's located in Mich. about 2&1/2 hrs. from Cleveland. It's going to be a blast. Be sure to make it if you can. We're leaving on Weds. staying until Sunday. Let me know if you want to go with us........Mac |

The answer to question #1 is that the proper term really is "Cat". Otherwise, my name would be "KatDude". You don't call you Viper or Cobra a "Snayk". |

I joined in 02 and everyone just calls them kat (sounds better) I sell cars at a chrysler dealer and have sold 14 prowlers. The real name for the color is prowler orange! Imagine that. Touch up tube (mopar) code pvf part # 04889623ab spray can #05066598aa sherwan williams # 60130. None of the paint name are fancy names --prowler black, prowler red, prowler silver, etc. |
