About a month ago, I was contacted by email from a man named Jerry Schultz here in Michigan who did a Google search for Prowler Club Michigan and found my name from the Pumpkin Run. He has a very dear friend, Valerie, whose elderly mother Joanne, has incurable liver cancer. It seems that Valerie's mother saw the Prowler when it was a concept vehicle and fell in love with it (like the rest of us!). She has several diecast Prowlers, but has never had the opportunity to ride in one. Jerry wanted to do something special for Joanne and decided that a Prowler ride would be something she would love. After unsuccessfuly trying to rent one, he did a search and found my name. He put me in touch with Valerie and we've had several phone conversations. Valerie tells me that her mother has been going through chemo treatments, but continues to be positive and "spunky". We had planned on surprising Joanne before Dream Cruise, but a down-turn in her condition made that impossible. Her health has improved enough that we have scheduled this Sunday as the day for a surprise ride. Bob and I will be taking the Candy Cat and the CA Kid Cat to give her a ride in a convertible and a hardtop. Valerie's brother will be riding with Bob while I will be taking Joanne. Valerie will be setting up a small luncheon for her family at Joanne's house while we are out for the drive as part of the surprise. They are all very excited about surprising their mother. I am looking forward to meeting this very special lady and her family and being able to be part of a very special surprise for her. How lucky I am to be able to do this for them. I will take pictures and post them next week. Please post on this thread and join me in keeping Joanne in our thoughts and prayers as I want to print this off for her to let her know that there are people who care. Valerie sent me this picture of her mother at a surprise 70th birthday party last year before she became ill. ------------------ The Prowler makes you smile. Why? Because it's focused. It has a plot, a reason for being, a passion. It evokes the hot rod. It evokes the American Dream. This car is the human psyche. |

CJ: What you and Bob are doing is wonderful for this lady, you guys were just a coup[le of the many many POA members that got together and help to pull me through my bout with Cancer (its no fun) I for one will be praying for this lady and her return from Cancer, God is so great and the things he makes happen with the help of people like you, maybe some of the local members could come by and help with the surprise all parked in front of the house with cats when you return. God Bless and love you guys Curtis |

It's things like this that make me love having a Prowler. Thanks for sharing this CJ, and for sharing your time for a person in a difficult situation. |

Hey Joanne!!! By the time you read this you will probably have taken a ride in a couple of old "junky" Prowlers....(rust buckets from Michigan)....Can you believe that "tacky" looking black jalopy with those God awful flames??....Give me a break!!! The really "cool" Prowlers are in the Cincinnati area....(except for some tall guy named Ed who thinks his Candy is totally stock)....Well,.... mine is purple....and we ALL know that purple is best....If God had wanted Prowlers to be any other color than purple He would have written it in the 10 Commandments....Well,.... we all know it's not there and so we have to assume that's the way He wanted it....Right? Anyhow.....My pals and I in Cincinnati heard you loved Prowlers as much as we do and so we're extending an invitation to "cruise" with us any time you can....just close your eyes,.... imagine a beautiful sunny day,... the rumble of the exhaust pipes and the wind in your hair....You're "Prowlin" girl!!! |

Joanne: I hope that you enjoy your ride in CJ and Bob's beautiful Prowlers. Next August there will be dozens of Prowlers in Michigan for the 2007 Dream Cruise. Since you will be cancer free by then you'll have to come by and see them all together, that is quite a sight! Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Dave in Dallas |

I appreciate the kind words you've given me, but this isn't about me. This is about a very special lady who is fighting a very tough battle. I'm honored to be doing this for her and all of you would have done the same thing. Please send your best wishes and encouragement to Joanne... |
