Seems like in the last few years after Production of the Prowler has stopped the POA has grown tremendously. I am just curious what took people so long to get their Prowler? When I saw the Prototype in 1995 I had to have it. I bought mine new in 1999 even though I could barely afford. Here are the excuse I have heard: 1) Financial thing, where either you did not have the money at the time or you were not willing to pay the ridiculous new car mark up price at the dealer. 2) Never knew about the Prowler. I have met several owners who never saw one or knew Chrysler made the Prowler until 2001, 2002 and etc. 3) Waited a few years, bought it used and saved a bunch of money. 4) Other....Please explain.

When they first came out the MSRP was reported to be $37,000. I found out I couldn't touch one for that and told my friends I'd buy one - new or used if I could get it for under $40,000. Fast Forward to April 2001 and I bid $39,000 on my car with 1800 miles on ebay and was the winning bidder. |

Always loved the car. Rented one in Vegas and within a year of saving found one and bought it. |

#1 and #3 for me also except I bought a new 2001 in December 2003 and saved a substantial amount over sticker. I also believe now your seeing the people that buy a vehicle to enjoy buying the prowlers. Instead of only collectors buying to try to make a buck down the road. jmo This message has been edited by kat hunter on 10-14-2005 at 12:58 PM |

We purchased ours April 1999 so I cant't say we really waited a long time to purchase. Timing turned out to be everything from the standpoint that I was ready financially, and the price markup at the time had significantly dropped to where the price was reasonable. Sticker on out 99 was $39,900 and we paid $5K over sticker which included an extended warranty. This message has been edited by BeWare on 10-14-2005 at 01:29 PM |

THEY HAD TO BUILD IT......... I seen the concept and HAD TO HAVE IT I made a $1,000 dollar deposit on it in Feb. of `96 for the 2nd Prowler the dealer got. In June of `98 the car was built and delivered to the dealer in July and I picked it up 4 days after it was delivered. Had I know that it was delivered on Saturday to the dealer I might have gotten on that Monday but had to wait till Wed. to take delivery of it. I would say the Market ADJUSTMENT most dealers put on the car made it more than most people could or would afford. Then the misconception that the cars were ALOT more expensive than they were, I had many people several years after I got it think it was a $60~80K car. I paid $41,000 for mine in July of `98, I would not have bought it if I had to pay the 50~70K that they were selling for at the time. |

Part of the appeal for me is that they stopped making them and they didn't make many of them. Now that the prices have dropped, I think it is the best car for the money. ------------------ |

I think that because very low mileage cars are now becoming available for under $30k, this allows a new segment to be able to afford and justify purchasing a car like the Prowler. Also, because many previous members of the POA have sold their Prowlers, there has been a decent turn over as newer members have purchased these cars. |

Saw the concept at the PGA Tour event here that Chrysler sponsors. Love at first sight! I had to wait until practical things like family were taken care of before I could justify a toy. |

1 & 3 for me. I wanted one when I saw the concept pictures. But 3 kids and practicality won out for a while. Waited until I paid off my truck and within a few months started searching for one used. Bought mine in Jan 2004. 17k miles later still having an unbelievable amount of fun driving it |

I fell in love with the Prowler the first time I saw it in 1995 at the Detroit Auto Show. I knew then that someday I would own one. (or one would own me) At that time I did not have the 'spare' funds or 'credit' to purchase one. Both my parents passed away in 2003 (within 6 months of one another) and left the three kids a small inheriterance. I took half of my inheriterance and purchased my Purple 1999, used, with 2,600 miles on her. I have no regrets. |

So exicted! Just bought my RED prowler a month ago! Always wanted a Prowler so I'd be different than everyone else. If I would've know that "prowlin" was so much fun, I wouldn't have waited. PLUS, disposable income is much better now than before! |

Always like them from new but way more than I wanted to spend. This year seen one in local paper, never new price had come down to reasonable level. Looked at the one in the paper and thought super cool ride but not practical. Two months later happen to look on internet in Feb. seen one told the wife Snow on the ground nothing to do, lets go test drive a Prowler. I ended up driving it home said only live once. Friend of mine always says" Remember this is not a dress rehearsal you only live once". |
