Does anyone know the production numbers of the Prowler trailers. Did anyone other than DC make the trailer? The reason I ask is I would like to purchase an orange one next spring. I would like to know what my chances are to get one. If I had to, I would get one & have it painted. |

They were made for D-C by Ajax trailer. I thought someone posted that there were about 1100 made but someone will come up with the answer. |

There were three different companies involved in making the trailers. One made the bodies, one painted, did the frames and titled them and the other made the wheels. |

If you can't find what you want, at the price you want to pay, there is a less expensive alternative. http://championluggagetrailers.com/ Also. http://www.hometown.aol.com/donniestrailers/ |

There was a post some time back with a web site that covered several different small trailer companies. If you are looking to get a Prowler trailer, expect to pay a bunch, as the people that have them know what they have and what they can get for them. To save money do a little shopping for companies that are currently in the trailer business. You will be able to get parts and service, were getting items for the Prowler trailer may be hard to come by and expensive. There is a yellow trailer top out here in Calif. that the person wants a small fortune for, but if you need a new top you don't have much choice. Plus a lot of Prowler trailers are sold because the owners have a small fortune tied up in them and they don't use them, so they finally put them up for sale. You can get a nice small trailer for about half of the cost of a Prowler trailer and you aren't tying up a small fortune in something you may not use that often. Something to think about. |

Here is the site I was talking about, it covers small trailers for both motorcycles and small cars. Check it out you may find a nice trailer for your Prowler at a fair price. |

TRAILERS FOR THE PROWLER ARE ONLY WORTH $3500.00. ANYMORE THAN THAT YOUR GETTING RIPPED OFF, $8000.00 SOMEONE WOULD HAVE TO BE NUTS TO PAY THAT MUCH. |

They listed for a lot more than $ 3500 and they are no longer in production. I guess you ought to be able to buy a '54 Vette for about $ 4000, too. Supply and demand, list price has nothing to do with it. If you keep your Prowler for 20 years and they are selling for $ 65,000, will you sell yours for $ 42,000 since that was list price at some point? People paid way over sticker for the cars just to say they had one. I swore I would never pay that much for a trailer and I have had 3 trailers. I will buy all you can find for $ 3500. |

Thank You Chiefload, great site. I've got about five different catalogs comming. There's nothing that looks as good as a Prowler trailer, but for the money & the few times it's used, these trailers look pretty good. Anyone looking for a trailer for about 1/2 the price check out the site. If I can't get an orange Prowler trailer, I think I'll buy one of these. |

Interesting comments, and I might add, all with good points. I'll add my two cents: Face it, the Prowler was never a vehicle for the masses, never an entry level vehicle, and definately not the ideal This message has been edited by Ed W. on 11-11-2005 at 05:39 PM |

Someone awhile ago in a trailer discussion made the comment that most of us are thinking purely of Unitarian duty for the official Prowler trailer. I admit that I bought a Prowler trailer for its luggage capacity, but my greatest joy will be just cruising around with the trailer in tow to double wow everyone. Heck I will just drive it to Krogers! I plan to spend some time in a large empty lot practicing backing up though. The first time that I saw the DC image of a Prowler and trailer in tow, It was all over for me till I could get one. |

Thats why I have 3 trailers, and would buy another at $3500.00!!! When I do get another Kat, which I will, I won't have to hunt for one, or I will, at least, be in a position to trade for the color I want. While I didn't pay $8000.00 for any of them, I do think they will command a higher price than $3500.00 for quite some time. I was lucky enought to purchase the Mulholland trailer new and in the crate. I believe it was the third to the last built. ------------------ |
