Just wondering what the longest drive anybody has taken there prowler on. I found a nice one on the other coast and I have 8 weeks of vacation so instead of shipping the car out I figured I could fly out and drive it back.

The distance is 1997 miles, would take about 35 hours on the road. (mapquest) Figuring 10 hours a day of driving and a few stops along the way I could do it in 5 days easy.

I have driven some hot rods some pretty big distances in one day and enjoyed the ride ~700 miles and this would be a real cool way to see quite a bit of the country. Plane ticket is only ~150$ one way, gas would be around 300$, figure 50$ a night for hotels.

Has anybody evey tried this, I would love to just do it at this point, bring my digital camera along the way and post pictures.

Only thing that worries me is the reliability of the car, would, the one that I am looking at ha ~40K miles on it so its definitly bee driven. Should make it pretty easy.

Several people have done long trips in their Prowlers. One year we drove through the Northwest into Canada finally stopping for an event in South Dakota. In all we put a little over 4,000 miles in 3 1/2 weeks. We did have a trailer.

Lot's of great roads and things to see in this country from parks to museums.

Say where you will be starting from and I'm sure you will get lots ideas about the route and what to see along the way.

You might even arrange meeting some fellow Prowler owners along the way.

I would definitely say GO FOR IT!

I have done similar on motorcycles...rode a Honda ACE 1100cc from here in Bama..cross-country to San Diego, then up the Cali coastline (1 & 101) up to my hometown of Mt. Shasta (had to go inward)--then up to Oregon to visit mom--back across northern tier...Nevada, Wyoming, Colorado, etc & eventually back down to Bama. I took 26-days cuz I stayed w/friends here n there + me mum, rain had me holed up for 5 days in Cheyenne, otherwise...had a blast. Also, you drive the way I do...10 hours days--no lolly-gagging! I wish U well...too bad we're not both from the same coast--it's be awesome to do with a couple or 3 Prowlers! I did this trek in May of '96--9 years ago! WOW! I also went alone!

Bought evil elf's '99 RED Prowler offa autotrader in Orlando, Florida June 24, 2004 & drove it straight back to Montgomery, AL: 500+ miles (10 hours). Her son, Erik, and I had a blast...but did it rain? Ohhhh! Lord!!!

I've drove the Prowler 20 hours straight several times and plan to make a trip to California this year sometime between October and November and will be pulling my Harley behind, by the time I make the trip my car will have 50,000 miles on it and I am not worried at all. If you are looking at that Black Tie and win it I can run it over to the dealer I go to and have them do a full service on it before you et here.

Winning the auction for the time being.

Thanks bob, to make sure that I have the money on hand and ready to go if I win the auction. They say all my recent checks have cleared and cash clear instantly so I am good to go on my side.

Got money for the trip set aside. Called the current owner left a message.

Anybody know hows the weather out in Minn, I was just in Indiana at the main office and it was stunning ~2 weeks ago.

I guess that I'm a little late to this, but you should absolutely make the trip if you get the car! We live near San Francisco, and we got our car in Pueblo, CO. We flew out to get it - cash in hand, yes, cash - and drove it ~1500 miles back. We'd do it again in a second. What a way to get to know your new Prowler. It was an amazing trip, and full of great memories. We even got to test it in the snow. Dan wrote a great story about the trip: http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/010837.html . Good luck with the car - and post about the trip when you come back!

Milissa, read the story it was great. I just hope I get the car, I have gotten my hopes up a few times only to have the car slip from under my grasp. This looks like a fair price for the car and I hope I am not bidding against anybody on POA but if it does not come through there will always be another one.

We drove our Prowler from GA to SLC Utah and back over a 3 week period. One day I was behind the wheel for 13 hours. I was less tired driving the Prowler than in during similar trips in my wifes 99 Caddie Deville (which we no longer have)We did 5200 + miles in the 3 weeks. Loved every minute. Except for dodging the tornado in Grand Island Nebraska that is.

My longest trip was 850 miles from Denver to Phoenix - 13.5 hours straight. I prefer not to do endurance drives like that - I'd rather take my sweet time and see the sites.
If you come through Phoenix, stop & say Hi to the AZ group!

I drove from Atlanta, Ga. out to see my wife in Portland, Oregon before we were married, Did it in a Jeep Wrangler no less. It took about 48 hours out and 40 back. I actually did the trip out and only stopped in Cokeville, WY for about 3 hours of sleep. I didn't stop until I was at Land between the lakes on the way back for a shower. Ahh, to be 25 and full of energy again. I guess I've replaced that energy with some sense!

At least I know I am in with a group as crazy as I am, will know soon if I should start packing. I talked to the boss, got monday and tuesday off if I need them. Will fly out Saterday morning and drive hoping to get into san diego on wednesday morning.

Will be pretty young by this boards standards, just under 24. I sold a couple of my cars to get this one so hopefully this will make up for the cobra and the the ferrari replica's.

St0rmBr1nger,
Without [me] searching eBay, where will you be flying into/purchasing the Prowler? Wondering WHERE on East coast? NE? SE? City/State? Thanks~

I officially hate Ebay. I put a bid in higher then what it sold for and simply did not go through in time. This officially sucks, never again.

Private seller all the way for me. I mean the guy who won must have put a bid in in the last .0000000000000001 sec.
There must be some special way to do that, it just royally sucks.

I saw that. I was watching you and the other guy bid back and forth and then I thought you got it because with 5 seconds left you had it then all of the sudden that guy came out fo no where and had the high bid. Unbelievable. Only on Ebay. Look at autotrader.com, there are quite a few prowlers on there. Sorry that happened to you and good luck in your search.

Look at the buyers feedback. Bad news there. Don't be too quick to give up on this car. Never can tell.

Sent him a email honoring the bid that I placed if the guy who won backs out I will step up and buy the car off Ebay for what my last bid was.

Called on a yellow in LA will drive up tonight and put a deposit on it if it meats my standards. Not giving up just yet but just a little bit peved that someone could simply sneak in at the last second and win.

autotrader.com is where I bought ours--and from a guy who was a member of POA--b4 I even knew this site existed! The subject never came up in our scores of e-mails exchanged before the purchase...and only afterwards...many weeks later...after I stumbled across the POA...on my own! No One directed me to this site--no one! Kismet? Fate? Karma? Chance? yes! So, don't give up on autotrader...I even bargained him down on price--which would NEVER happen on eBay. NEVER! Good luck finding the right Kat for the right price. We love ours! And thus far--zero problems encountered in appx 10-mos & several thousand miles of ownership! Rock On!!

You may already know this, but just in case you don't, you can bid whatever the maximum amount you're willing to pay is and your bid will only show up as the amount required to make you the high bidder. For example, had you bid $28,000, your bid still would have shown up as $27,800 - but when that other guy bid $27,900 your $28,000 bid would have "kicked in" and he would have been informed that he had been outbid by another bidder - you. In this case he wouldn't have had time to bid again (there were only 4 seconds left when he bid), and you would have won and gotten the care for $28,000.

Hope that made sense. If not, just ignore me

I haven't driven mine as far as some........yet, but I did drive it to Pigeon Forge. I love the car.....it's very comfortable for me and I could drive cross country and be happy! Will be doing the Hot Rod Power tour this year and I do all the driving. Can't wait!

You should drive it back.........what a better way to "break it in!?"
