I just got off the phone with my State Farm agent regarding Prowler. Some talk on the POA made me ask some questions regarding if car is totaled. His response to me was that they would pay for me to get like vehicle off a car lot (that means 2002 with 7K miles), not what I paid minus depreciation. I may have fibbed to get the answer I was looking for, by saying that I feel the Prowler will start to appreciate and want to make sure I'm covered properly. Any comments true/false/otherwise?

You may want to check with Hagerty Insurance. I just got off the phone with them and they are going to insure 3 Prowlers, 3 prowler trailers, and 1 SSR for what I currently pay for 2 Prowlers and the SSR. The insurance is for agreed value not current wholesale or depreciated value.

I also was concerned after reading on the POA site. I took my policy in and said how much do I get if I total the Prowler? His answer was they go to a company that will find 5 other vehicles in this part of the country, same year, milage and condition, average it out and give me that amount. It is a paid service and I cannot get that figure on my own. My insurance company is Farm Bureau.

I have Farm Bureau also and that is what I was told by my agent. The one thing he added was if they couldn't locate any thing close they would use auction prices.

Yeah, but auction pricing is very unrealistic. It's not like at the wholesale auctions you can fine a 2002 Prowler in it every week - or probably ANY week. I feel comfortable with what my agent said (and he called corporate to verify) - they DID recommend as much documentation as possible for your benefit. Pictures, video, car show awards, etc. To show the condition of the vehicle. But I've heard Haggerty's before - think I should give them a call to at least cost shop before my new premiums are due.

I also use Grundy. I have a number of cars and Grundy seems terrific.

However the real test is when a claim is made and I haven't and don't plan on testing that aspect any time soon. Grundy insures through Chubb Insurance Co. which is generally considered a premier company, so I am very comfortable with this. The rates are terrific and I believe that every Prowler owner cherishes what they have, so their exposure is much less average. Also, when you insure more than one vehicle, they combine the general liability coverage, so the premium on the second, third etc. car is even less because you only pay for the general liability coverage on the first vehicle. This a major difference between collector coverage and conventional coverage.

The only problem I have is that I do have an 18 year old son and he can't drive any car under any circumstances. There are a few times, for a major school event that would have been nice for him and for the school to use a car but they will not make any exception. Hagerty on the other hand was willing to do accommodate us if we would call them and let them know before hand the date and circumstances. However, I had to switch from Hagerty because they wouldn't insure my factory made Shelby Cobra kit car, regardless of the build quality. After switching, I realized a some additional savings and got the added benefit of a Chubb Insurance Co. So now if I want my son's to drive a car, I have to add him the car to my regular insurance policy for a short period, but I don't think I can keep pulling this off.

I looked into Grundy and even had them send me the paperwork for both Prowlers and the Mercedes. After reading the paperwork and contacting the company for clarification, I found them too limiting. You have unlimited mile, but that is only for event purposes, not for daily driving in any way. You cant even go down town to run an errand on a sunny day, so be careful if you drive it for more than at events, you wont be covered according to the Grundy agent.

I've heard this also. So,,,, is Hagerty Insurance any different??? If it's too reasonable,,,there must be a catch somewhere.

I have Grundy and I questioned them about that also. The person I talked to said you could drive the car, but not leave it at malls or someplace like that... which I wouldn't do anyway.

Which brings up a couple more questions... if they say you can only drive it to events, and can't leave it parked in the mall lot, do they define what classifies an event? And what if there is a car show in a mall lot?
To me, an event is a parade, a car show, a monthly gathering for a nice day's cruise, and something like the upcoming Dell's "event". Would driving the car to the Dells be covered? Or would we have to trailer it TO the event?

I had Grundy for approx. 4 1/2 yrs in Maryland. They were fine and the price was reasonable. I did have some restrictions such as 7,500 miles maximum annually and no drivers under 25 yrs. old, and the usual stuff such as no coverage on drag strips. When I moved to Fla. and attempted to transfer Insurance, Grundy wanted me to sign an agreement that I would not drive it-only look at it-and put it in shows. I switched to Haggerty with some restrictions. I can drive it 3,500 miles annually, and it is insured for $50,000.00 not ACV for a total loss as I've invested considerably more than the initial cost into it. Hagerty's phone is 1-800-922-4050-Web is www.hagerty.com.

Idive, those are good questions and points and I recommend anybody interested in Grundy to call them and ask for the insurance paperwork be sent to them for review.
Like Larry S. said, they just want it to be in car show or sanctioned events. The paperwork I received was extremely limiting to the cars use. Since I actually drive mine for any reason, though for fun is the best reason, I tossed the policy in the garbage. I would like to see a post from somebody that had Grundy on a newer vehicle and had to file a claim, what were the results and what type of proof of use was required. I have chosen to maintain the prowlers on my regular auto policy and pay the higher costs, just to be safe.

I had Hargerty and now have Grundy... I do not use my cars for shows but do occassionally exercise them on appropriate days. I was told that this type of Sunday drive usage was ok... as long as I wasn't driving them for daily essential things like work or the supermarket...
They also asked if I had another car just to validate that concern and after answering yes.. they said perfect, no problem.

I suspect that my car usage is similar to many others in this group and hence this type of insurance is perfectly appropriate.

I have Grundy........they frown on taking it to the grocery store, and on mine there is NO mileage limitation,
but they DONT want it to be a DAILY driver, that is pretty much the restrictions.
> i have mine insured as AGREED VALUE for $ 65K,
and the trailer for Agreed V @ $10K.
That covers my mods and they require photos that you can upload to them!
