The wiring you need is already there you just need to tap into it. I have done several of these and have it down to 10 minutes so not even knowing you should be able to do it in 20 minutes. And yes Jerry it is that time of year and things are slow but have no fear you will have it in time for spring thaw. I have over 60 of the stems in the shop ready to go for the spring rush! Should I chrome a few of them? would it be worth the extra $20 to $30 bucks? ------------------ |

I put a yellow and black one on my 99 yellow cat. It looks great. I went directly through flameballshifter.com (this way you do not need a minimum number). I like the ones through real rod, but they are quite a bit more expensive (you get a complete kit, with a stock). The real rod kit also allowes you to keep the neutral safety switch in tack. I believe the real rod one, you simply push down to engage. I had that feature removed, so it will shift automatically with out having to put your foot on the break. I also elimated the need to have the push button on top of the flame ball (I did not like the way it looked). You need to think about these two things before ordering. The folks at flameball are a great help. It looks so cool at night. Good Luck |

Sorry, I did not mean to upset the apple cart, just provide some additional information. I have parts from real rod and I am very, very pleased with everything I have received from them and from tom mills. But in this case, the flameball factory is located about 30 miles from my home (I could go there and look at the balls) and they were very helpful. The cost difference is significant (about $75 from flameball vs. $225 from real rod). I will be the first to point out that real rods setup is much easier to install and a very nice setup that keeps the mechanics original. I preferred to "do it myself" and save some money, and I preferred my look to the one at real rod....that is it...period. |
