What NO ONE here is saying, oh honorable ProwlerLESS newbie, izzat nobody on this board would RENT anyone their KAT for $4,000 let alone $400--I suggest you search carlots in your general area and enter into a binding "contract" to 'rent' a Prowler! That way, insurance would cover any damages, should they occur! Otherwise, you'll just hafta make do with the '76 Nova, eh! |

I don't even let our adult children use the Prowler and they don't even bother to ask. They know how anal I am about the car. |

Sore topic. I swapped with my neighbor yesterday; his Harley for my Prowler. I really enjoyed being on a bike again, but even my warning him about the nose did not help. Without the body protectors, this could have been much worse. This message has been edited by xpguy on 11-09-2004 at 03:21 PM |

My neighbor Phil is a good guy. Loves cars and bikes and is really torn up about hitting the curb. We have been getting a new driveway the last couple weeks and he let me use his garage while mine was unavailable. He even put his cars in the street so we could keep the Prowler inside. He has offered to pay for the damages, but I know with Christmas coming he has better things to do with his money. I will likely work something out with him.
I am seriously grateful to Bob and Cnote for the nose protectors. This would have been far worse without the protectors. You can see the support brace is bent as it took most of the impact. Edit: Thanks Ty, renamed it and it worked. This message has been edited by xpguy on 11-09-2004 at 07:10 PM |

YXPGUY's example is exactly what I am talking about. The Prowler is unique in so many ways if your not use to it you can easily unintentionally do severe damage. It may be just a car but I was barley able to afford it to start with. Also I have spent allot of time and money on modifications, most of which insurance won't cover. Especially the paint. Due to a rash of bad luck last year I had 5 insurance claims on 3 vehicles and only one could be remotley considered as even partially our fault. Even so our insurance doubled this year. Also my insurance has a clause that my wife and I are to be the only drivers. If someone else was driving it they could deny the claim. Especially if it was rented out. Anyway that's just me. I am not sure about other states, but in Pennsylvania my insurance is voided if I rent the car out. |

if you rent the Kat, it voids your insurance if you let someone drive it, your insurance is primary for them, their auto insurance is secondary. So if you loan someone a car & they have an accident it affects your rates not theirs Mike ------------------ |

Renting perhaps but, most insurance policies have an "uninsured driver" clause. At least ours does. |

xpguy, a shame for sure--but it'll get fixed soon. About pics NOT uploading, try this--it worked for me--maybe it'll work for you. Change the name of the file you wanna upload. For example, if it is AP3, change it to AP33 or AP333, and see what happens! I experimented with this several weeks ago--and somehow, it worked! Good luck uploading! Ty-K |

With a $500 deductible, I would not think of submitting this to insurance. Of course if we get under there and find something more substantial than scratches and scrapes that could change, but I doubt it. My wife and our nanny have both driven the car and like Bob says, sh1t happens. I am glad Phil got to enjoy it, if only for a little while. I doubt I would let a perfect stranger drive it, but I would certainly let a POA member drive if they were here in San Diego. |
