1. Who makes it?

2. Is it "fun" to drive?

3. How much $$$?

4. Do they still make them?

5. With that small trunk space, how do you go on a trip?

Just yesterday at our local car show, this guy is looking at the silver Alley Cat, and tells his friends that these are new cars that are now just being built. Thought I better correct him, and stated that my car was five years old and that they stopped production 2 1/2 years ago.

1. What kind of car is that?
2000 Plymouth Prowler. At least I tell the truth on this question.

2. What engine does it have?
A fast one, wanna race?

3. How much did it cost?
More than I told my wife.

4. How long did it take you to build it.
I'm STILL working on it and don't expect to be finished for a couple more years.

5. Can I look at it?
No, close your eyes until I leave.

1. What kind of car is it?
1999 Plymouth Prowler...yes...PLYMOUTH!

2. What engine does it have?
V6, 253 HP...and it'll beat whatever you're driving!

3. How much did it cost?
$42K--sticker price! That usually shuts 'em up!

4. Do they still make them?
Nope! They made '97 thru '02 minus '98:
Plymouth thru 2000--Chrysler thereafter
(without getting into half-year productions).

5. Is this a kit car?
Nope! Production Auto! (see #1)

6. how does it ride?
Like a Go Cart at slow speeds...smoothe at hwy speeds!

7. Is it "fun" to drive?
I usually say, "No! I bought it cuz I hate how it looks and drives!" (stupid question, eh!)

PS: I realize you only asked for '5' -- delete 2 if ya' like!

I've been asked twice if the engine was in the front or the rear. They thought it was in the rear.

Was asked (while in a parade) what size engine it had in it? When I told him it had a 510, he just said, "Oh".

While getting gas, I was at a 45* angle to the car in front of me. There was only the 2 vehicles in the parking lot. The attendant asked which car I was, and I said I was right behind him. He said, "Oh, the motorcycle."

Getting gas at Podunk, Texas back in February 98, a guy that looked to be in his mid 70's came up to ask me if I did all the work myself. Of course I said yes. (I worked long and hard to pay for it.)

For some reason, when you're in a parade, everyone wants to see you "punch it" (with another car not 20' in front of you).

1. Do they still make them?
2. Is it a kit car?
3. How fast does it go?
4. What size engine does it have?
5. Do you drive it in the snow?

One of the strangest instances that I can remember since purchasing my 97 Cat in May of this year, is driving down the interstate and having the passenger of a vehicle in the high speed lane take a picture of my Cat while I was traveling in the center lane. The flash of the camera screwed me up for a few seconds.
Worse than sneezing while you're driving by far.
I seriously don't mind any of the questions. One gentlemen yesterday at the gas station said to me..."Every time I see one...it puts a smile on my face". I know everyone including myself has this same feeling when they drive their Cat.
It is one uniquely different ride! Have a good weekend everyone!

My favorite one was Turkey Rod Run last year:

Cruising by a row of Hot Rods:

A girl in a group turns and says to the guy next to her " What kind of car is that ? " with a HUGE SMILE ON HER FACE

The guy this group was talking to that suddenly we took attention away from him goes " That is one of those piece of S^%$ wanna be hot rods "

Well I speak up " I drove my piece of s&*# here 1500 miles how far did you trailer yours? "

The crowed went nuts.

The question I get asked on almost every drive:

" Wanna Trade ? "

I always reply with a smile " Just how many of those do you have? "

There is a an elderly gentleman that lives somewhere close that drives a new T-bird. He stopped to see the Prowler the day we were leaving for Texas (and meeting Dave & Brenda, Ron & Sue, Steve) and I was ready to pull out. He wanted to talk. He said he always sees it and wanted to sit in it. He then proceeded to show me his T-Bird and the novelty horn. I couldn't get rid of him and didn't want to be rude but needed to get going. He sat in the Prowler. Finally I just told him I HAD to leave.
Now, everytime he comes down our street he blows his novelty horn even if I am not outside. I think he wishes he bought a Prowler instead of the T-Bird. He's a nice old guy and I feel bad the stopped the minute I had to leave.

Not only do they ask questions, I am always amazed at how many people have never seen a Prowler in person! Even here in Michigan!

I think part of the reason that a lot of people have never seen a Prowler is the fact that so many Prowlers are garage queens.

I think Ed is right. There are tons of garage queens out there. That's not a bad thing...but just remember...you can't take it with you.

My theory: I believe the majority of people that disparage the Prowler because of the V6, have NEVER DRIVEN A PROWLER.
