Mornin' boys and girls.

I've been playing around with some design ideas for my new kat - I'm trying to do some cosmetic things that will "radically" alter the overall appearance of the car without sacrificing the car's inherent "attitude" in the process. My main priority is to try and "play up" the Prowlers hot rod heritage so when finished it looks a little more like a "hot rod" and a little less like an off the shelf Prowler. I'm thinking I need to minimize the chrome (I purposely picked a car with silver wheels for this reason). This is what I came up with - opinions are invited. Be honest, but please try to be nice - I have a little of the sensitive artist thing going on here

In fact, if I decide to do this, maybe there is a Silver prowler owner out there that would like to swap hoods, trunklids, and mirrors so all we have to paint is the upper portion of the doors and we'll both have two tone prowlers (yours would be the inverse of mine - kind of like a Black Tie but purple on top instead of black) while maintaining the factory paint on 95% of the car. Anyone that might be interested in such a thing?

Now why on Earth would you think anyone on this board would voice his or her opinions? I like it actually ... tastefully different.

I like the two-tone idea. Have you thought of the Air Patrol from Real Rod - go with a silver, as well. Front bumpers off and if you keep the rear bumper, maybe paint the rear bumper to match the silver car color or swap for a newer black one instead of the sort-of silver. We loaned our black bumper to a friend with a black Prowler and it looks so much nicer. Although we like the look without bumpers all together.

Bottom line - do what you like, its yours.

have you tried it,with mulholland blue.i really thought that silver was the answer,i was a professional artist, for 17 years, silver ,for me doesnt do it.prowler purple is a hard color to accent.try maroon also.a darker fuscia will also work.

to me, the most radical change is removing the front bumpers....the rest all comes down to personal tastes....I really like the TGF grills on the Kat for the same reason, no chrome....I also like the Carlini bumper covers because of the style, it matches the headlights....different paint schemes are fine, but a solid color is my favorite....how about flames.....

....try this....no front bumpers, TGF grill, Carlinis, silver ghost flames covering the entire front of the car....I still like the chrome wheels, even hot rods had them....I like the cars to have a clean look...

Love the detail in the door! maybe add the clear marker lights to blend in with the ovals. Maybe add the design on the doors to the hood someplace.

I haven't decided whether the bumpers are staying or going yet. I'm a bit conflicted about that - I really like the way the car looks without either the front OR rear bumpers - there are a couple of rear roll pans I'm quite fond of, and taking off the front bumpers really cleans up the front end and shows off the TGF grille. I also like the chrome billet bumpers Real Rod offers (a little pricey, but nice - I realize a lot work goes into something like that with a limited potential market, so I understand the priciness. Hi Bob ) I'm just not sure I'm nuts about exposing both ends of the car to potentially catastrophic damage from even a minor fender bender - there are a lot of really bad drivers out there

I like the Air Patrol idea a bunch - I think that's a "go" in silver.

Tangled - I really like your cars. And your photographic skills. Well done. I'm in agreement on the TGF grille - I was lucky enough to get one of the last bunch from Norb a couple of weeks back. Now I just have to find someone who can match Prowler Purple properly (jeez - say THAT three times fast).

Great ideas all, and I appreciate it - keep 'em comin'

I like the holes, love the grill, hate the silver paint--try Black & see what Black looks like w/Purple!!! On the order of the Red/Black, Silver/Black theme, eh! Also, black would tie in the top beautifully! Have the bumpers painted black, put on chrome wheels ... and you're there!

If you decide to go with the port holes why not put the first one in the place of the side marker light? If you do I can send you some housings that you can mount the port hole on, then add a flat clear lens between the port hole and the housing. Use an amber bulb and it would look cool. Punch some holes behind the other port holes and add some screen and cool the engine compartment off. Two tones are nice but not silver and purple.

I like the silver/purple combo.... More contrast with light and dark combos. I can't think of another color that would look better.

Thanks. That's been the toughest challenge I'm faced with - I really like what the two tone paint scheme does for the car (I like flames and originally considered them, but I'm trying hard to do something a little more "unique" as there are a number of cars out there with flames, and I haven't seen any two tone cars with some subtle graphic accents), but Prowler Purple is an unusual color, and I'm yet to find a second color that works as well as the silver does. I though about a candy tangerine orange, but I'm afraid it'll be a little to "loud" for what I'm trying to achieve.

Keep the ideas comin'. You guys are bound to think of many things I haven't.

I like the silver and would also recommend the silver air patrol. I've got an air patrol and it really adds a lot to the appearance of the car.

Also agree that with the Buick port holes, you need to get rid of the side marker lights on each side.

I personally like chrome wheels on the Prowler.

How would it look with matching silver front and rear bumpers?

Hi Bob

I've heard mention of that car from a couple of folks. I appreciate you trying to find pictures of it as I've never seen it. Anyone out there have any pictures of that car? I did a search on it but all the photos seem to be gone (getting the little white boxes with red X's in them). Would Mike Krehel have saved them in some sort of archives if they were deleted from the server?

I didn't realize how negative it sounded til I read it--then tried to be suggestive rather than critical but it's your car--I love purple and if I had the bucks I'd get one as a 2nd Prowler--but the silver combo with it simply does NOT work for me! I'd go w/black remembering what Larry said about LESS being MORE! G'luck!

Too bad they did'nt make the front grill and nose a little more pronounced, like a 33 shovel head grill similar to the BoydsterIII.

I didn't take it as negative or critical - I asked for opinions, and things like colors or color combinations are purely subjective, so I was totally prepared for every conceivable response. I genuinely WANTED your opinions, both pro and con. I'll ultimately do what I "want" (it is my darn car after all), but I was curious to see how the combo affected people, and I knew that alot of you would have some really interesting and good ideas to add to the mix - ideas that I may never have considered.

Besides all that, what the heck would a guy from Montgomery Alabama know about customizing a Prowler
