A lot of my friends and neighbors say I'm anal about washing and cleaning my car.

Yes, it's true...I do like my car to look better than new.
Yes, it's true...I do dry my car with a leaf blower.
Yes, it's true...I do follow up with a 100% made in the U.S.A. White cotton towel.
Yes, it's true I then apply (rather my wife Mickey Applies) a coat of Zaino Z-6 Gloss Enhancer and buffs it to a magnificent Luster.
Yes, it's true...I do then apply 303 Protectant to all plastic parts with a sponge. These parts include mud flaps, bumpers, fender protectors engine, engine accessories, hoses, battery, wire harnesses etc. The items are then buffed with a clean soft towel to a magnificent gloss.
Yes, it's true...I do then apply two coats of Zaino Tire gloss to BOTH the outside and the INSIDES of my tires.

Now as anal as I may be...I would bet I am by far in the minor league compared with many of you on this forum.

What is the MOST anal thing you do in maintaining your car?
Do you remove all four wheels every time you wash?
Do you take off your spark plug wires so you can clean the top of your spark plugs??

What is the MOST ANAL thing you do. After everyone has listed there analities we can vote for the MOST ANAL (Not the biggest A-H^$&).

Ed - is this why you weren't at the June Texas event? If you were, I don't remember meeting you? Rumor had it that the dew point might reach saturation and unapproved moisture wouldn't be allowed on your cat? T-Rex Randall had said the same thing, but we lied to him and his blue bullet got wet!

Simple my Prowler gets a full cleanup and wax job before every car show or cruise even if I did it for a event the day before. It is not uncommon for me to wax my car twice in 1 weekend if I am doing 2 shows that weekend. I have only had this car for 1 1/2 months and the previous owner did not take good care of her, I doubt it was ever waxed before I bought her as she was FULL of surface scratches and I had to buff her out before I could even wax her. I doubt I will ever wash her again just dust or wax. She will never have to go out in the rain if I can help it. When I bought her the paint was completly gone off the bottom of the nose, but I used to do body work for a living so I was able to do any painting and touch up myself. I still put a bottle of touch up in my pocket when I wax her and touch up any nicks I might find as I go. She is still not to the point I want her but that will come in time.
Barry
Oh and the most anal things I do are use ear sticks to dust the vents and around the radio, and on my wifes PT/Cruiser I use them around the lugnuts also. I also use tire dressing inside the wheelwells to make them look new, I spray them and then wipe off the excess. If my cars do not look BETTER than new when I am done I did not do a good job.

Ed,
I have noticed recently that being so called "Anal" is the NEW definition of being a perfectionist. I know first hand because I have been dubbed that with my Prowler too. I don't know who decided to change the definition to this vulgar description anyway.
When I replied to the posted thread of "What is a Prowler"...I classified what a good portion of us do prepping our Prowlers...as a labor of love.
A leaf blower eh...neet idea!!!
Brian

To end this...I feel this board is comprised of many Prowler loving perfectionists! Does that sound good? I think so.

Any one that takes the time to participate in this site is DEFINATELY a car NUT and there is nothing wrong with that.
I am sure that everyone here takes better care of their car than normal and isn't that GREAT!

I am NOT that anal...but do wipe it down after every ride b4 covering it! And, refuse to drive it to work cuz no good place to park away from everyone else. Friends tell me, "It's just a car, man!" But, it's MORE than 'just a car' to me...I do drive it~but~try to keep it 'nice & unblemished' in other respects! I have only waxed it once in 2 months. I've washed n dried and chamoid'd it often. So all y'all are more ANAL than me! Maybe I'll wax it tomoro~hmmmmm!

Anal ?? -------- YES !!

Got caught in a downpour yesterday after having lunch with the gentleman above - washed the cat this morning and waxed her this afternoon - but to be honest, waxing is NOT on my weekly 'to-do-list' !

Ken - that might be too much information, but knowing that,,, I've decided I would rather sit next to you for lunch than next to Ed, lol.

Dusti - you have used the term "gentleman" to describe KY [Man of Metal],,,,,was that a typo or were you at a lose of words at that moment? I'm thinking the Evil Elf has other terms she calls him, lol.

Would it be considered anal to use a kleenex (Puffs ONLY) draped over a toothpic to remove the dirt from the visible threads on all the bolts?

A/C - are you waiting for me to reply? Me Anal? Are you serious?

How about removing all four rims after it got wet at the Stampede so that I could wash underneath and in the wheelwells? How about spraying all the underside aluminum with aluminum wheel wash so that I could get a clean surface again to POLISH the frame again with Blue Magic Polish? How about using Son-of-a-Gun on all the rubber parts, hoses and plastic under the car and in the wheelwells? And don't forget the visible portions of the gas tank! Oh, and polishing the Rust off the exhaust pipes - only back to the muffler though!

Thank God I'm done with that so that I can start to detail the paint!

I swear it will never get wet again!

I don't think "anal" is the word for me (maybe Bob), but I do take a lot of pride in my cats and I am the one who takes care of them. I am very picky and I think my cats always look great! It helps to have the lift in the garage, so I can clean the undercarriage. Ask Marc Scarbeary! lol!

You anal guys would probably have a heart attack even reading about my cleaning procedures - or in your mindset - lack of cleaning procedures. The important part is you are doing what you want and enjoying your car. You get your kicks pampering it and keeping it better than new. I get mine driving the hell out it. I do try to detail it for each POA event and when something wears out, like the seat leather or paint on a certain part of the car, have it redone.

My family thinks I'm anal, but I dont keep my prowler as perfect as above. However, I drive my prowler almost everyday to work. I try to take extra good care and keep her looking good but I'd rather be driving her then polishing it. She still looks great, but I'm having fun.
