I have to share with you a truly life-changing Prowler experience I had earlier today. I was asked to be in a 4th of July parade (cuz my car's so cool!) in a town about 20 miles from here and the weather forecast called for bright, sunny skies. I arrived an hour before the parade, got the Kat all shiny and sparkling and waited for the start. The skies were cloudy, but didn't appear threatening. Literally as the parade began the skies opened up and a torrential rain poured down for 20 minutes. I freaked. (Here's the true confession) You should know that until today my Kat had been a garage queen - never in the rain, never out even if it LOOKS like it might consider raining. Call me anal, or overprotective or stupid. I have always believed the weather has to be PERFECT in order for me to drive the Kat. Now, back to today: I quickly put up the top, rolled up the windows, turned on my wipers and proceeded in the parade. Within a short period of time the rain stopped and I rolled down the windows. Usually I have loud music (KISS) playing when I'm in a parade, so I never get to hear what people are saying. Today I did. It was really cool. Old people, young people, males and females...all shouted compliments or gave me thumbs up or clapped or simply pointed. It was probably the most enjoyable parade I've been in. I raced home after the parade (assuming my car had melted because of the rain or some such foolish thing). I got out the Quick Detailer and Windex and within 30 minutes the Kat had never looked better. It didn't melt in the rain. It didn't lose it's appeal in the rain. And it cleaned up and dried out just fine. I have learned my lesson. This is a car to be ENJOYED. Taken care of - for certain - but enjoyed more than anything else. This may not seem to be a big deal to most of my friends out their in POA-land, but to me, this was a BIG deal - and helped changed my mind about our great car. Thanks for listening. P.S. Have a nice day. Kevin ------------------ |

Kevin, glad to see you are finally out of the closet, err, I meant garage. The reaction in parades in unreal. I won't even bring up the fact that you would get a lot more compliments if your car was either shade of RED. lol |

Kevin, been exactly there ......actually that "behavior" of mine (no sun, no ride etc.) made us miss last year's Prowlin' the Smokies..........talking about a bonehead, especially after seeing the video of it and the question - what if........ !! I for once learned my lesson - enjoy the car, drive the car and if it gets wet......it'll live and so will I !! ------------------ |

Some one told me once, your positions can own you, or you can own your positions. I took this to heart. I have owned my cat for 3 days now and I drove it in the rain today. My grand daughter wanted the top down and it was raining lightly. She got her wish. At 60 or 70 the rain blow right over. I keep my cars and positions in good repair and clean, but I use them and enjoy them. If the resale is a buck or to less, so be it. Life is to short not to enjoy your cat. You still can't wipe the smile off my face. ------------------ |

Rain is against my religion, and I'm devoutly religious... While I applaud you in your breakthrough, I personally still think it could possibly melt. I have talked to my priest, and he is steadfast that GOD does not want the car getting wet. As a matter of fact, he thinks I should come for confession after I wash it... So, if you see me heading down the road in the pouring rain, I've probably just been given 6 hours to live, and I'll spend them behind the wheel of this beautiful car!!! ------------------ "Dali" is Dr. Mike & Mrs. "Jo-Jo" S. near Dallas, Tx. In the immortal words of Steve Clark, "I see you are driving the beater". The 99 is pretty much fun to drive with the straight pipes and down shifting. It still gets a lot of looks and thumbs up. I need to make the Candy a little more stock and get it in shape. I am getting close. But my quote of "live while you are still alive" doe not only apply to Prowlers. I almost got hit head-on on the motorcycle last night by a young girl from Cleveland who turned onto a one way street, the wrong way, just as I approached the intersection. Luckily I was slowing for a red light. I was in the left curb lane and had no where to go. Any of us could die to an accident any day. Have a little fun, don't lay on your death bed and say, "I sure am glad my Prowler has low miles". Enough of that kind of talk. Go drive the cat. Either you get it or you don't. |

Kevin, Understand perfectly how you felt! I always wanted a Prowler, but never wanted it to be a garage queen. Everyone here knows how BOB felt about the same issue with regard to my cats. I never deliberately took my car out in the rain, but it has been caught several times (both the black and the candy red). It's always been on POA events! Bob used to freak....he even made me leave an event and go home once because of the car getting "trashed" as he put it. His issue was not with it getting rained on, but driving on the wet pavement and getting the underside "trashed". I always cleaned it up and it always looked "like new" again and he has since learned that: 1. It doesn't melt He has since mellowed out about it and no longer has to take tranquilizers (lol). The last several times that it has happened, I was worried about his reaction and he finally said, "Don't worry Honey, it'll clean it up (meaning me)". I'm going to enjoy the heck out of my cats for as long as I own them and as long as I am capable of driving them. As nice as it is to listen to the comments from other people when they see the cats, for me, it's all about my smiles and my enjoyment. It's the cheapest attitude adjustment I can think of! |

Hey all, For the record, as I dont want any mis-understanding, the "Pretty Kitty" is not a Garage Queen. I drive it everyday (weather permitting, of course) to Starbucks about 1/2 mile from the house. That's a mile a day, 30 miles a month !!! I think this qualifies as a daily driver, right???

2 years of daily driving, rain/ snow/ dirt roads....I'll still stack mine up against any fair-weather Prowler. Just don't look too close underneath... We drove around yesterday in light rain with the top down buying up fireworks....almost more fun driving in light rain...asserts your insanity to the world around you.... Then again, why are we so worried about under the car? Unless you drive over a mirrored road, why bother? Do you polish your shoe soles too? ------------------ |

I've got 50,500+ miles on my Kat and she's beautiful. She's BLACK and requires many hours to clean and prep. for ea. show she is in. Sometimes I have trouble putting in those hours or should I say getting started on that task but once into it I manage to get her all guessed up. Two weeks ago I won a 2nd in class up against a very nice all chromed out(and I do mean ALL chromed out) Prowler at the Capitol City Chrysler Club show near Sacramento Ca. I was very pleased. I've DRIVEN her over the past 4+ years and really enjoyed her. A week ago I lost a very good friend who suddenly died. In his garage is a very nice "57 T-Bird which he owned for some 20 years and hadn't driven for over the last 15 years, now he never will! He kept waiting for the right time and event to come along. He had more excuses than most people about not driving(or working on it either). Now his family will just let it sit there for years I think,'cus they don't know anything about cars and as a result it's going to probably rot right into the ground. I've seen this type of thing happened a number of times in my life and I think it's real sad!! To me, getting involved with MY car and involvement with other car people and the "sport" of "car stuff" is far more rewarding than just trying to keep the value up or bragging rights that you've got a true garage/trailer queen. Now I've got to go and make some more parts for other owners Kats and clean my Kat so I can drive her somewhere today By-By. Obi-Wan |

I have been caught in rain in some of my cars. In New Mexico the rain can come quick but does not last long We get what is called New Mexico rain, so if you get caught in it, you really can't do anything about it, its more mud than rain. We have more trucks on the road than cars and they like to play in the rain and they spray you car with mud after going through a puddle. If the forecast is for rain I will never and I mean never take my cars out. I have a truck for the bad days. ------------------ More 'Pumpkin' photos . . . . . Kevin - I am happy to read one more POA member has seen the light about driving in the rain. It happens to most people sooner or later. It makes no difference to me if someone keeps their car out of the rain. I'm the one out having fun with mine. Kevin - maybe you can come to the RealRod/BellePlaine Festival July 17th? |

Burns sorry to hear she got wet, but like you said it cleaned up as good as new. If you can make it up the road on the 17th and it happens to rain we can put it in the garage. To Cnote, Ron & David just sent Renae to get the tabs for my car and will mail tommorow, if one of you happen by the dealership can you take a pic of my car and send it to me? I think maybe it was stolen and they are just afraid to tell me. ------------------ |

The rain during the Texas event was unbelievable!!! That was the first time in the two years I owned my car that it had been wet. But I did realize this was going to happen with the weather reports that week, and I did take it out anyway, cause that was an event I definitely did not want to miss. But I have to admit - I hated seeing the car that dirty and it has not been out since. I bet it will be two more years, if not longer, before I do that again! June was the third wettest month in history here - 17 inches of rain, and this past weekend was the first weekend in 6 weeks that we did not have rain. Now its at a 30% chance for this week. Oh well, the car is getting a good detailing with all this down time! ------------------ |
