Yes, it's true, 5 members from the Northern California POA adopted a 1936 Cord Experimental Limousine. The vehicle is on display at the National Automobile Museum in Reno, Nevada in Gallery 3. If anyone in the Reno Area can take a picture and send it to me or post on this site we would be appreciative as the earliest we can get there is on the Reno Fun Train March 5, 2004. The 5 proud Foster Parents are Kathy & Curtis Blockhus, John Davies, Jane & Phil Horvath, Judy & Gary Myers, and Betty & Otto Marx. The adoption plaques reads "Prowler Owners Association". Everyone have a Safe and Memorable Holiday Season and looking forward into 2004. This message has been edited by CA Phil on 12-20-2003 at 08:50 PM |

I have a friend in Reno that might be able to get a pic. I'll check with her and let you know. ------------------ |

Awesome Phil. Glad you got the confirmation. It will be awhile before I get up there. But can't wait. ------------------ |

As "surfing" sometimes does, here is another project of theirs I found... a 1936 Terraplane with a Viper engine... gorgeous work! http://www.theguildofautomotiverestorers.com/1936_terraplane.htm |

Congratulations to those Nor-Cal members for making this adoption possible. To you, a great deal of appreciation is deserved for showing your interest in preserving the classics of time and presenting the automobile enthusiasm that is shared within the POA community. |

Your right Larry, I know it may seem weird, but I'm pretty proud. Phil, don't forget Patty is into this too. She has a daughter in Reno, so we may be seeing it often. ------------------ This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 12-21-2003 at 12:50 PM |

Thanks Mickey, the National Automobile Museum in Reno is a great place to vist if you get a chance. I always forget Patty's last name. Didn't mean to leave Patty Cardwell out of this. Sorry Patty. |

Sorry that I do not know what "Adopting" means in this case. Someone give me the basic facts or general facts, please. The tail end of the PTS video shows a bunch of Cords, Auburns and Deusenbergs. Really classic and beatutiful. |

Adopting meant that we contribute a yearly sum to help with the restoration. Not a huge amount, but something to help it on it's way. We had a list of cars to choose from and we picked this one. By doing so, there is one anytime free pass(I believe) to the museum. And newsletters etc. This is the same museum that basically gave our prowler group free run of the place, including dinner a month or so ago. Every venue needs a little help to keep its operating cost down.

People who love animals have more compassion for people in general.........nothing wrong with that!!! My son is part of a very elite group of Special Ops soldiers........very tough guy.....and he loves animals. There should be more of us like that.......maybe the world wouldn't be in the mess it is. |
