Does the Borla tips come on the 2002 or is it a mod?

Its a mod. The Borla is a complete exhaust system that includes the tips.

Thanks Idive, I bought my 2002 gold used and it has the kat logo on the tips. Is that Borla or is that stock?..I have noticed earlier kats do not have the logo on the tips. I was thinking about getting Smithy's but don't want to mess with it if it is Borla..

warmncool,

Another opinion...Borla can come as four add-ons to the Kat:

1: The cat-back system which includes carbon-fiber tips (older)

2.The cat-back system which includes kat etched tips (newer)

3. Just the carbon-fiber tips bolted/welded on to the existing pipes.

4. Just the pipes and hangers with carbon-fiber tips.

I am pretty sure I am correct that you can no longer get the Carbon Fiber Tips at all. If they are still available they are only the shorter tip version. The longer version carbon fiber tips (pictured), are not available from Borla. I am sure of this because I tried to get some and was told this.

The cat tips come with the Mopar exaust system (Borla muffler).

They are just bolt on/off so if you want to go back it is no big deal

Your car came with the cat tips because someone changed the exhaust which means you don't have the stock exhaust system, either the muffler or the tips

The stock muffler is triangle shaped. The aftermarket Borla is more flat in appearance. Not sure what the Mopar Borla looks like. The entire Borla system is also stainless. So if it has any rust it is probably the stock muffler. Same with the tail pipes.

Hopefully the aftermarket exhaust tips don't slice up your fingers like the factory ones do. What was Chrysler thinking when they put those razor sharp tips on our cars?

Could the previous owner bought just the tips and not the complete exhaust system?..I haven't had the chance to check out the mufflers..It is a little tight under there..lol...Thanks, Larry

It is possible they were purchased secondhand but the tips aren't available without the muffler from the dealer.

All things are possible but in all likelihood you have the Mopar system Really... it isn't a bad thing

I don't think you can get the tips seperately. My bet is that it's the new Borla exhaust (which is a MOPAR part #)

You want a quick visual confirmation? If the pipes leading up to the tips are all rusty, it's the original exhaust. If you see no rust at all, it's the new Borla pipes...they are guaranteed for 1,000,000 miles and will never rust....Great option if you are showing the car and just hate seeing ugly pipes under...

i purchased the mopar exhaust for my 2002

it is the same as the borla with the except the cats on the tips. the other exception was the the mopar exhaust was 100.00 more than the borla. price you have to pay to have the cats on the tips.
