Hello all,

What I am about to relate to you just happened. I purchase a number of items from EBAY. I had seen this seller called Moparpart. He has listed a number of Mopar parts for sale.
I purchased a set of Silver mats from him as a daily driver pair. Since my car is yellow I wanted to preserve the yellow ones. I have a second set of yellow in my garage still in Mopar packaging. I could have gotten a cheap set of mats at any local auto-parts and paid some one to put the Prowler name on and had the same item.

The set I purchased for MOPARPART was not at all as I expected. I do not know if anyone else has dealt with this dealer or not.
Here is the noticeable difference with the original Mopar mats and his cheap knock off.

The backing is like a polyester rubber slick, not as flexible as should be.
The tits are half the length of the original.
The tits on the back go to the edge of mats right up under the edge lacing.
The knock-off has part identity printed on the back of rubber in 1/8 inch white ink.
The Embroidery is stitched through the backing wrinkling/distorting the mat.
The logo is not stitched the same at all. Letters do not start or stop or look the same.
The carpet material looks like the cheap shiny Gray/black bad carpet.
The back edge is not trimmed cleanly at all.

The genuine Mopar mats stop 3/4-inch from the edge.
The rubber backing is very flexible feeling like true rubber.
The Genuine mats have a 1in-3in space for the part number that is in rubber.

Please correct me if I am wrong. Do your Mopar mats look like this? I have a very high standard for all automotive products. I do not plan to buy from this person in the future. I await for a reply from MOPARPART. I will relate his reply to you when I receive.

This set of mats would pass for Genuine Mopar Prowler mats

I bought a Prowler Wall clock from him, I think? It was just a plastic clock with a paper Prowler picture pasted inside. I only paid around $10 so i just forgot about it. I took the clock apart and glued on a thicker piece of cardboard to stop it from curling up!!Hey just send him back the Mats and tell him they are not stock Mats and you feel he is misrepresenting himself, and give him bad feedback if he doesn't. I like the Cali Viper club Prowler mats a whole lot better then the Stock.

I purchased a key blank from MoparPart this month. I received it with no problem... Did you get a parts department receipt from him? I believe he is at Lakeland Chrysler in FL.. I tried to find my parts receipt that I received from them with my blank, but I can't....

Hope this helps.

Here: http://norcal.viperclub.org/merchandise.php POA members get their club member discounts too, I believe. I might double up your order if there's a break on shipping and split shipping costs with you.

Well, since you have a parts invoice, don't you think that dealership could get into trouble by selling a knock off part as a genuine mopar part??

I'd call Chrysler and see what can be done. I know when I go to a dealership, I feel that I should never have to question a part that comes from the parts department.

Good point Ron.
As of today there has been no reply from MOPARPART.

I would like to know what this person has to say about the mats before I go further.
I will give him a couple of days to reply.

Then I will go further in Chrysler about this.

I have purchased many parts from Randy at this dealership. They are always original Mopar parts , never had aproblem.
I have bought exhaust, fenders, mats, garment bags, mud flaps, and many more parts. He has always been upfront with me. Please tell us how this works out.
P.S. My mats were exact copies of the originals

I got a reply form seller.

'It may be that Chrysler is using a different vendor. The mats are OEM replacements directly from Mopar. We only sell genuine Mopar parts and accessories. Thank You'

I would have thought he would have checked into this before answering.

I will take my loss and continue on.

Does anyone know how I can check this out within Chrysler..

I just can not imagine Chrysler selling this product....

It is so inferior...

Jim,

Mopar parts and accessories are of the highest quality!! You might check and see if there is a part # on the mat?

Mopar is only producing silver mats for Prowler and it has a different part # than the original silver mats.

The new silver mat part number is: 82208101
The original silver mat part number is: 82203378

Joe !!!!!

You hit it on the head.. These are the same as yours. The Part number on back has the Ford logo inked out.. A little soap and magic. Ford Logo clear as a bell. That would explain the repackaging...

Like Yours these are everyday mats. No loss..

It would look like distributor is still selling Ford mats with Prowler on them. You would think they would have gotten the logo for prowler right....

thanks
again Joe....

Cj the part number on back of mats is

FORD 10/02 -822-08101-pvc>pass>RF
FORD 10/02 -822-08101-pvc>pass>LF

I have purchased 1 additional set when I purchased car . They are the best. This set is more like what I would expect at a flea market .

Thanks for taking interest CJ

Not really ford,
Sounds like Chrysler has more explaining to do than anyone..
I could see them doing something like that with an entry level car, but what was once the Plymouth/Chrysler flagship there has to be standards. I wonder what other future replacement parts for our cars will be like.. I guess they could just modify neon parts to work. That might as well be what they are doing now....

A "flagship" car is one that is the finest and most important one of the fleet. The Prowler was never the most important one to either Plymouth or Chrysler, IMO.

There was no advertising, no mention, and when you saw ads of the complete lineup in magazines, the Prowler was noticably absent.

The Prowler was a design exercise to push the limits in some areas and just raid the parts bins of other cars in alot of areas. Various parts of the car (when being built) came from other cars in the DC line-up.

Would you like me to send this set of mats to you?
I will ship at my cost. That way you will have a example of the quality I am speaking of.
