Well I would just like to announce that I am a happy new owner of a yellow prowler. I flew down to Pensacola, FL and drove it back to Naperville, IL a few weeks ago. Just in case your wondering, 3,500 miles at $29,900. I know that won't make some of you happy but just think of it as another low priced kat off the market. The only problem I have now is the flaking chrome on the inside of the rims. Has anyone had them sandblasted and rechromed? ------------------ |

quote: Congradulations on your new car. The chrome on the wheels is a BIG problem. If under warranty ask to have them replaced. If not and you want to do something, I would suggest either having them stripped and rechromed or you could prep the back and paint the barrel of the wheel. ------------------ |

Welcome aboard. Chrome is not removed by sand blasting. It is normally removed by reversing the electrostatic plating process, where the wheel becomes the donor anode thereby giving up its chrome to the solution. It then needs to be repolished prior to replating. Take it to a reputable plating outfit to have it done. Plating wheels is a complex process, particularly the inside of the rims. It requires specially contoured anodes placed inside the rims to get good coverage on the inside of the wheels. I suspect this is where the original manufacturer of the wheels failed to do a good job. |

If you cannot get them covered under warranty it may be easier to buy another set. Marty Usher has a set of rears that was replaced under warranty recently that he has for sale in the classifieds and then sell yours. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum6/HTML/001680.html ------------------ |

First- welcome to POA. We hope you are able to attend some of our events. They are a great way to meet other owners and learn more about our cars. I would suggest you check with a dealer and see if the previous owner had a Chrysler extended warranty that can be transferred to you and cover the wheels. As Bob said I have ordered new wheels (aftremarket) and have two rear wheels that were replaced under warranty last year for sale. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Soliday, just saw your post here and thought I recognized that yellow 99. Was one of the first deals I watched on ebay. Think the pin stripes look great. Scott was trying to get $33,900 so you did great getting him down to under $30M and pulling off of ebay early to boot. I should have one in the garage soon as well. Would be curious as to what you end up doing to fix the chrome. Is that a vintage Duster in the drive as well? Good Luck, Congrats! |

quote: Wow you even remember the dealers name. Impressive. Currently I am just going to leave the wheels as they are because you can only see the problem if you are specifically looking for it. The other car is a 1970 Challenger, or at least most of it is. It was the end result of the restoration of three junkyard cars. The third car is my PT Super Bee. The other day I found a prowleronline buisness card under the seat from KenG. The previous private owner lived in Ohio so I am guessing they meet at a car show. ------------------ |
