Two weeks ago I posted I need a bumper lens

Then one week ago I posted I needed all four but it would be covered under warentee.

That brings me to my question. When I first had just one lens damaged, I was going to replace it. But I found they were on backorder and the dealer said there was no target release date.

Then when I had to get all four replaced, the dealer mysteriously wasn’t encumbered by the back order any more …

I’m not complaining, but does any one have a better explanation on the inventory? It would seem in this case that Chrysler is holding some back for their own internal use?

As a Chrysler parts manager we don't always know what they are thinking but recently they have developed what is called D to D or dealer to dealer. They have realized that before they reorder slow moving parts from their vendors the could connect those dealers looking for these parts with dealers that have them in stock. Makes great sense for both parties. If I have the part Chrysler pays the freight and I am paid a flat $3.00 over cost no matter what price. If your part was on backorder they could open it up to other dealers when the backorder requests warrant it. Your dealer may get each of your parts from four different dealers over a weeks time so don't blame him, Chrysler is really pulling the strings.

Bruce - thanks for the informative response! It does make sense the way they are handling parts between dealers, zones, etc.

I didn't know that we had a DC dealership parts mgr included in our association, but I'm glad you are a member here. I hope that this doesn't open the gate for people to complain to you about their problems, as you have no control over those issues, but I'd like your permission to pick your brain at times when we have a question or two???

Thanks again for the explanation of this thread.

Larry
