Been seeing a lot of post about torn tops, went out to the garage to look at mine, after 9000 miles mine also has a little wear. The area that is showing the wear is above the rear window, off center a little to the left, raised the top then stood in the car to follow the top down to see how this area is rubbing. Came to the conclusion that the top is rubbing against the fabric covered panel covering the rear deck catch, there is an area that sticks out around the catch, when top is lowered you will also see this spot. To prevent anymore wear, I cut a small V shape spot out of the panel at the bottom were it meets the carpet in the trunk. Also to keep an eye on this fix, a small piece of duct tape was placed on the top were the wear spot was showing, take a black magic marker, color it, this will show you if there is any more wear, plus cheaper to replace duct tape then you top.

Thanks for the suggestion. After reading all the stuff about holes in tops, I became conderned and could not figure out where these tears are coming from. I will now inspect the area you mention and try some preventive measures.

I'll keep an eye out for that area.

I DID notice a wear line 1 inch above the back baseline of the top, where it meets the trunk, (Car has 1,200 mi) I opened it up, and felt underneath, and if you feel under the top at that point on either side (not in the middle) you will feel a sharp ridge that ends at a sharp point right where the frame of the top is.

It's hard to explain, but look at the back of the top and if you see a wear line, just feel behind it. I put the pile part of velcro to soften the edge. No worries now.
