Have no trailer, but my Weekender is great and that picture of the chrome PT cruiser luggage rack looks cool. The Weekender has a feed through receiver and the PT rack could easily hook onto that and give enough storage for a 3-4 day trip. What would be the ideal was to enclose your belongings on the PT rack? any ideas? P.S. anyone know if the PT rack folds up like the Prowler rack? Thanks ------------------ |

Richard - just a word of caution. Remember the tounge weight is rated at no more than 100 pounds. I am sure there is a safety margin factored in and I do not know if the aluminum brace that the hitch bolts to is the limiting factor and might be able to be braced. Before I bought our trailer I had a DrawTite wiremesh cargo rack and bolted a fiberglass trunk to it. The combo empty weighed 55 lbs - leaving only 45 pounds for luggage/stuff. I know we exceeded that by at least 25 pounds on a couple of occassions with no problems. Hopefully no one will overload the hitch capacity and cause it to break. Rick, The PT Luggage Rack does fold up just like the Prowler Luggage Rack. Thanks, Bob ------------------ |

Marty, Bob thanks. Your correct, I had not considered the tongue capacity. Well, I guess that USED trailer is in my future. ------------------ |

Richard - I didn't mean to scare you on the weight capacity. Just wanting people to be cautious. Bob Goetz, who makes the Weekender that plugs into the receiver had 6 - 12 packs of....an adult beverage... in his weekender while in Colorado. If my calculations are right, that's about 54 pounds, plus the cans, plus 3 bags of ice - another 30 pounds added to the weight of the Weekender itself. I wonder if he has done any max weight testing?? Just don't OVER do it! Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

The thing with the weekender & PT rack is leverage. By extending the weight out that far would reduce the amount of weight it could safely handle. I'm sure they are oin the conservitive side @100 lbs. 10 lbs on the rack behind the weekender might = 50lbs tongue weight at the receiver on the car. I would not do it my 2 cents |
