Just got off the phone with Jack Breevaart's daughter Carrie and was informed he was in a deadly accident last Thursday. Jack was driving with the top up and appears that his right rear tire left the road and when he tried to recover, lost control and slid sideways, drivers side into a telephone poll and died instantly. The momentum of the car kept it moving, rolled over, and the poll fell on top of the car. Jack was an experienced race car driver for many years and it's hard to believe that this could happen to him. Carrie wanted me pass on .. know your car, what it will do in different situations, and by all means be safe. With the insurance money from the Prowler Carrie will be setting up a scholarship fund in Jack's name for students at Chico State where her father had taught. For those in the area the funeral service will be at the Brusie Funeral Home, 626 Broadway St., Chico, CA 95928 (phone: (530) 342-5642) at 1:00 PM this Tuesday, November 20. Consider sending some flowers in memory for a fellow Prowler enthusiast. I'll keep everyone informed of the scholarship as it progresses. I've only known Jack for a little over 2 years, enjoyed his company, and will miss him. Jack I hope you have the time to look down on us from time to time to keep us wise.

My sympathies to Jacks Family. Everytime I met him he had a smile on his face. This was a great loss. The only consolation is that he died doing what he loved. If you die in a Prowler you get to take it to heaven with you. Lucky guy. |
