Toured the CAAP with Tony Goertz and his neighbor Rick yesterday. Yellow was on the line and sounds like a lot of vacation days between now and early Jan. When they come back prod. will go from 14 to 7 cars a day. They will also be starting on the Candy red. We went over to MSX and they were painting 2 complete bodies candy red, painters were told they were for the Detroit auto show, the best one of the two will be there. We were told the candy red will have a tan or beige top but that may be just gossip. We waited for the red to come out of the oven and go under the lights. Its a really nice color, almost garnet or ruby to me. I went to the CAAP store and ,according to Sylvia, hold the single day highest amount spent on prowler merch. She just received the 1:43 scale Prowler in orange from eagles race, its a nice model, she also has the black tie in that scale.

We also were shown "midnight black" which is supposedly to follow the red, its black with gold metallic in it and really nice. Its another dark color but the gold flecs make it really appealing. A few people on the line spoke freely about a "sunset edition", apparently, more just idle gossip,it would be gold on the bottom with black on top like a b.tie or woodward. I dont know if sunset suggests the ending such as a sunset ends the day, who knows.( well I am sure someone knows it just aint me)

It was sad to see how down in the mouth the line workers are, they all have such pride in this vehicle and where they work, one guy said " I have 30 years here and waited for a dream job like this, when I go back to the other line it will be like putting a wild animal back in the zoo". I hope they all find positions as rewrding as the ones they have now, they were all great.
I also hauled home a 97 purple I found on a dealers showroom new with the sticker in the window. The crew at CAAP was glad to see an original new purple again. I had a great time and was glad to see the birth place of all my kats. Here is my disclosure by the way. Everything I wrote here is speculation, nothing was said to be confidential or private, I dont work for DC or anyone so its just info you can do with what you want. I have no ties to anyone I was just a customer who was told some things that I am posting if anyone finds them interesting.

Hi Bob.

Thanks for posting the information from your tour.. The line techs have always been a great group of guys & gals and have always treated their customers very nice on my tours & always displayed a lot of pride in being on the team building the only production Hot Rod... They are Prowler people...

Thanks Laddie and Larry, I should clarify, it may not have been the most spent in a day total but she said it was the most by an individual, you know leather jacket, clock, die cast a few dozen shirts etc... I was in pure heaven!!! Just trying to help the economy, and christmas shopping at the same time!!

That had to be a great experience for you. I hope to be able to make that trip before they shut the operation down. You have confirmed my suspicions about the pride those people must have in our "Prowlers". Hopefully, each and everyone of them has been told about the excitement and pleasure their very special creation has brought to all of us fortunate enough to own one, or two , or ten, or more.

I would still like to see management give these folks the chance to be an active part in the design of the last batch of kats to be produced. You can bet they would be the kats meow.

Please see my post "GIVE US OPTIONS" on 11/23/01. If you and Mike K agree with this concept, surely the two of you can have an influence on getting it done.

I agree with you 100% but its like talking to a wall. Every person I spoke to from a union line worker to a DC employee all said the same thing. Dealer marked up prices, zero advertising and some marginal color choices are part of this cars demise. However, it was a 5 year project from the get go, or so I am told, Its gonna be 5 years. Will there ever be another car like it, probably not,Like CJ said, its not gonna get a V8,never was sposed to. They toyed with the Howler with a V8 but its not gonna happen. The economy sucks, we are at war, and the clock is ticking, When a car company is having trouble selling mini vans they dont have much $$ to spend on advert. for a car thats gonna be dead in 7 mo. to a year. Its too much, too little, too late. The car IS for me. It may not be for others. I would love to see some big hurrah and good bye for the car, a cool special edition, but I am also glad for the ones we own as they are. I love each one for a different reason, even the Inca Gold. I dont care if the car is worth more or less or whatever, I dont own a corvette or anything else, I like THIS car,, and the merchandise, die cast etc. I am not gonna second guess or give opinions anymore on anything here on this site, I will buy what they build thats that. The MSX that does the painting could handle a challenging paint job. They are slowing from 14 to 7 cars a day, if cutting production in half doesnt give you more time for other things like standard flame jobs, 2 tone or depth jobs I dont know what would. I hope they do something special. Again this is only speculation not anything I know for sure or want to get anyone worked up over.

Hi Bob
They may have let to many KATS out of the bag at CAAP today. Before the economy got poopy and before 9-11, I knew there would be a very special one marking the end of the Prowler. I hope the controllers find it in their hearts to budget what they had in mind for the last roll of the Prowler. Read this thread over really good, and you may see what is in store for the end.
Thanks Bob, are you keeping the Purple. The ones going to the auto show in Detroit in January are sold. They will be autographed too by ???. I think money for these are being donated to the New York relief fund.

Sasy, i am keeping the purple since its a 97. I caught your message however. I like the new red, its really nice in person. However I think you could paint it Exorcist Linda BlairPea Soup Green and I would love it. As far as anyone letting the kats out of the bag big deal this isnt a covert mission against Osama Bib Ladin its a friggen car!!

I like KATS out of the bag, it's fun.....It gives everyone something to wish and dream about. And after all, isn't that what keeps our clocks ticking....

I like to dream about the next car or what's around the corner.
