I didn't see Laddie's post where he said Chrysler was making the hard tops now. I am only making a guess here - this was called a "concept" and those are done by TGF so I am willing to bet it is a TGF hard top. It didn't look any different than the other TGF hard tops I have seen. ------------------ |

We were asked by Chrysler to supply them with 3 of our hardtops for SEMA. Yes, that is a TGF hardtop on the Prowler. ------------------ |

Marc - I only saw 3 prowlers while I was there - 2 inside the show (hard top and a red) and one yellow with two young Asian guys in it - that was outside the convention center on the street - not on display. I kept looking on the strip for kats to go buy but didn't see any. I did see a Viper and several Ferrari's though. ------------------ |

DC asked for the hardtop just to see what sort of reaction it would get at the SEMA show. ------------------ Classic/Beautiful - I'm referring to the Cat of course! |

Cliff, What in the world is that red car depicted in the 3rd & 4th row of pic's with the dual blocks -- the one with the "Hot Wheel's" logo on the nose ?? What is the story on that thing ?? ------------------ |

Harry - back in 1968 when Hot Wheels started this was one of the original die cast cars - called "Twin Mill" This year they have made their first die cast car a 1:1 car - it is real and it runs. They said there are plans for more of their die cast cars to become 1:1 - i.e. real cars but they didn't say which ones. As you probably know, Hot Wheels makes a lot of die cast cars and a lot of them are production vehicles which they duplicate. There are quite a number which are their design (designed by their employees) which have never been produced in the 1:1 scale - now there is 1 car to have made it. It really sounded great with those twin engines firing up ------------------ |

CW; How the hell do they manage the transmission - linkage etc. on something like that or is it all just a bunch of "hipe" and nothing hooked up? ------------------ |

Harry - I don't know exactly how they did it - it does run, it does work. They drove it down the street and got some great reactions from some cops. The engines deliver somewhere around 1200 HP to the rear wheels. I don't know how in the world they were able to see around those air intakes but they did it. ------------------ This message has been edited by CWatsonJr on 11-07-2001 at 01:23 PM |

Harry - Yes, it is real. It was a working engine. They fired it up and drove it inside the convention center, also, the day they were setting up. They also fired it up a couple of other times. Dieter Zetsche also found it very interesting! If you are interested in the specifics, I will call my contact at Decoma and talk to him. |
