Hey all,

My annoying "low tire" pressure light keeps coming on when I drive the Prowler and I spoke to my prowler tech and he says he need to recalibrate the tire pressure sensors or I may have a bad sensor! I know a new sensor cost about $200!! My car just went off the 36/3yr warranty, but are the sensors cover under any warranty like the tires still are? My car only has 9000 miles on it.
Can I recalibrate my tire sensors myself? Seems weid the sensor went off right around 9k miles.

Thanks for all your help, you guys are the best!

Brian....

Heard from another Kat owner to take air pressure up to 50 Lbs then back down the pressure to correct lbs.

This over-inflation is supposed to "reset" the pressure sensors.

I have not had any sensor problems, so I do not know first hand, but worth a try for FREE.

Let us know if this technique works.

As expensive as our Cars are to repair, extended warranty's are a must have IMHO.

Have you talked with your dealer on if they would cover the sensor work under warranty? If they won't I would ask for the DC Zone Manager and discuss the matter with him/her.
Dealers and DC have been pretty good with the warranty work.

Get another Prowler owner to switch wheels with you and have him take it in, while he is under warranty. Then reswitch wheels. Tell them BIG FOOT sent you.

Wolfman - great idea, why didn't I think of that? Its no wonder the City of Cinci kept you on payroll so many years, how much money did you save them?

Make sure you break all the center caps, so that sensor adjustment will only cost $220.

You don't think they would check the numbers on the tires, do ya? NA..

Hey Guys,

IT REALLY worked!!!!!! I pumped my tires up to 50 PSI turned on the car, turned it off and the deflatted the tires to the correct air pressure. (30 psi front and 32 psi rear). I drove the car about 10 miles and the light never came on! Wow it only cost me $0.50 to pumps the tires up at the gas station. So that is how you recalibrate your tire pressure sensor. Thanks Joe for the tip.
