Hey Guys & Gals, I have been having some trouble with my "Low Tire" Light on the dash. I drive my Prowler at highway speeds the "Low tire" light comes on. If I slow down for a toll booth or drive on surface streets I have no problem. Can someone help me out. ** I checked the tire pressure before I left and it is 28/32 psi (perfect) and when the tires warm up in the FL sun and highway speeds the tires changed to 32/36 so I deflated the tires and now when they are cold I run 26/30 psi and the light still comes on.

Had the same problem with my car. Is yours a 99? Mine is and they had to reprogram the computer to stop the lite from going on and off. Check with your tech. |

Take the car in to have the Prowler Tech recalibrate the sensors. I also have a 99. By the way, there was a technical bulletin for 97 and 99 that the tire pressure should be 30/32psi. Good luck, I had to take mine in 3 times before the problem was finally resolved. ------------------ |

My warranty ran out. will they re-calibrate the sensors for free because of a recall? ------------------ This message has been edited by spoons on 04-11-2001 at 12:02 PM |

Might be a bad sensor, or the battery went dead early. ------------------ |

The light on mine had been on since I bought my 99. I took it to my local dealer for "service" and they told me that they needed to replace a unit under the dash. I waited about a month for the parts to arrive and then just simply removed the bulb from the gauges. No more problem. I am replacing my runflats with non-runflats anyway so I really didnt care about the sensors anyway. ------------------ Bill Gallagher |

WG, I thought the same of removing the sensors, but now is really the time you should keep them on because you'll have non RF's on. Are you doing the SP SPort 9000's or something else? Have a day. |

Hey guys, my dealership tech has a question about those of you that say your sensors were recalibrated or the computer re-programmed? He has gone through all the tech bulletins he can find and sees nothing about doing this?? He has asked me to see if I can find out just what was done and they'll do the same to mine. He says if they maybe need a newer software for their computer checker, thye'll get it but he needs to know where their finding this. Mine has been coming on since I bought it 34,545 miles ago and seven repair tickets has not fixed it. Seems if the tires go down a lb or two it comes back on. Just way to sensitive to be of any value. If one of you could ask your tech just what needs to be done or the checker version of their software I'd appreciate it and so will the tech, it'll get me off their back. ------------------ |

Thanks people for all your info on this one... I'll get with the tech as soon as I get any numbers for him. Again Thanks. BKG, do you have your techs name? By the way, just for info sake, I have invited the dealer technician to join me at my expense for our Viper/Prowler event coming up on the 21st. He jumped at the chance and I think I just made a very good investment.... ------------------ This message has been edited by prwlyn on 04-12-2001 at 10:00 AM |
