I can't believe Gary didn't start this thread. You all didn't do any permanent damage to him at Woodward, did you? I just wanted him to be able to get more "cheap posts" at everyone else's expense. He can do this countdown at the same time as the Woodward countdown. Actually for me it is only 29 days since I am leaving here on Sat. Maybe I will start another thread with that countdown. |

I don't want to wait any longer, but I guess we have to. I just hope the weather agrees with our trip. I've been in Flagstaff in late Oct. and got a foot of snow. Cross your fingers and hope. Otherwise, this trip is going to be worth every mile we drive. Gary... I can't beleive you missed this one!!! [This message has been edited by paulr (edited 09-29-2000).] |

funny you should ask. One of my sons borrowed it for a firefighter group ride yesterday and when I picked it up last night the windshield was so dirty I stopped at the closed gas station just to clean the windshield. Bugs all over it. He called today and said he thought I was going to pick it up today and he didn't have time to gas it up, etc. We were at a party a few blocks from his house so I picked it up after the party. After the ride they went out with another son to celebrate a different daughter-in-laws birthday. So actually the bike is filthy but ready to go other than that. Fairly new tires, oil changed, all we need is good weather. I made the plane reservation for Sandy's return flight last night so all systems are go. The m/c will be three the day after Thanksgiving. Or at least that is the day it was delivered to the dealer and later that day to me. [This message has been edited by ed monahan (edited 10-01-2000).] |

---30, I skipped yesterday and apparently nobody cares, or maybe it is just apathy, or even a lack of interest. |

24 days to go and we are leaving here in 19 days. Played golf today and my buddy said they were on the south rim in August and it snowed. They had been in Vegas where it was 106 that same day. I guess I'll need snow chains on the bike. Let's get those checks in to Larry soon and have a few more sign ups. It is getting close. |

I can't wait, the thinner air has to make those paint balls move even faster. |

Does thin air affect the flight of 9mm bullets. That is the only type of gun I have used lately. Guess I will bring it in case of an emergency. |

Ed and Paul, I know we can't predict the weather any more than the stockmarket or interest rates. But let me add an optimistic note: I just came out of Williams and Flagstaff, in the prowler of course, and the locals and shopkeepers are all claiming, and braging, about, the best weather they have had in as long as they can remember. And their season is still on according to them. So let's hope this good stuff lasts just a bit longer. Also remember we will be driving through weather changes in just a few short hours. It was 107 when I left Laughlin and 75 when I arrived Williams. If we caught some sour stuff, I am sure our leader could drive us right back out of it in a hurry. And the route is wonderful, you would love it both ways. It's a no miss, well, almost. |

Just read my Flagstaff book, it says temps avg : daytime - mid to upper 50's nite - mid to upper 20's. If the sun is out, suncat will be topless / with chapstick. When Sondra turns to ice, she can ride in Al's or Larry's trailer. ------------------ |

Hey, it's that time of year for crazy weather. It snowed 13" in Estes Park a couple of weeks ago......10" in Cheyenne and it was gone in a couple of days.......no big deal......just the way of things out there in the west. Besides, I've always wanted to see some snow on the Canyon! |

Never fear! I have a backup plan for the tour. If the weather turns against us, we will still do the Route 66 portion of the tour and the retreat to Laughlin for Friday night. Saturday would then be a trip to Hoover Dam and then a return through the Ghost town of Chloride and back to Laughlin for Saturday night. Everyone in the high country of Arizona tells me "no problem" but just in case, I have been busy with the backup plan. Either way it will be a fun time for all. |

OK with me, 3 days of Gambling, ouch. I really to me doesn't matter what we do if the weather takes a dump. |
