Larry, I just double checked the itinerary for the Grand Canyon tour. I clicked on the Flagstaff weather and discovered I am going to need underwear and socks on this baby. I knew it was a lot cooler in Flagstaff than in Phoenix but the average low of 22 came as a shock. It is warmer than that in Cincinnati in Nov. Keep in mind, I am coming on a motorcycle. I guess I will be bringing some winter clothes. I am 99 % sure I am coming but won't know if Sandy is coming for about another week. Are you planning on going to the south rim? In fact is the North Rim closed during the winter months? I see Laughlin is only a few miles from California so I will definitely have to drive into Cal. to add another M/C state. I am looking forward to the trip and meeting you all. Wish I could bring the Prowler but my back couldn't take the trip, I don't think. Any chance we can get an embroidered L.L. hat and I don't mean L L Bean. What a tribute to you, having everyone in the group picture wearing your signature hat. (That ought to win you the T-shirt of the week as I know that will get a bunch of them started giving you grief.) Anybody else going West?? Longest trip wins a free Sparkle!!!! |

Ed, Leave your longjohns home unless you can peel them off quick during the day. Layer clothing good. The weather should be a little better than you think. Look at the almanac for October also. We're right on the edge of that. Cold nights but you'll be sawing logs. They close the north rim about this time but the south rim stays open and the driving will hopefully be beautiful. |

Ed: BINGO! Bring your long-johns, as Arizona is not all desert. Many days of year, Az has highest and lowest temps in the nation. I believe Larry Lord has us entering the Grand Canyon from the eastern end of South Rim, and traveling west. I have done this route eight times, and can assure you of breath taking views. Bring lots of film and tapes. Hoping to have 50-60 degree weather on South Rim by the time we reach there. ------------------ |

Roger and Larry thanks for the updates/input but you really let me down not mentioning the HAT. When we rafted thru the canyon we had wild weather swings from chilly morning to rather hot sunny afternoons. I was a boy scout-be prepared. Thanks |

Ed, The original slightly scarred, extremely scared (of the Hat Killer) and now psychologically challenged hat is now in Detroit awaiting signatures of many of Daimler Chrysler's Best. It will be auctioned off to benefit charity at next years Woodward Cruise. I do however have another almost identical although not quite as historical, hat that I will let you use for picture purposes. NO helmet law in Arizona!!! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Larry Lord (edited 09-20-2000).] |

Would everyone please post what portions of the Route 66 / Grand Canyon Tour 2000 you are planning to attend. I am trying to make a list of each stop on the tours and it will help if I know exactly how many will be at each place. 1. SEMA Show in Las Vegas (what days will you be there?) Don't forget that I need all Black Bart's Dinners and T-shirts paid for by October 15, 2000. Be sure to include t-shirt sizes and your dinner preference with your order. Please mail your checks for the dinner and T-shirts ASAP to help me get things going. Dinner is $25.00 per person and the "Grand Canyon Tour 2000" collectors T-shirts are $20.00 each. Send checks to: Larry Lord 2101 W. Key St. Colton, CA 92324-6523 Thank You! ------------------ [This message has been edited by Larry Lord (edited 09-21-2000).] |

Dinner at Black Bart's Steakhouse is being planned for 6:00 PM and I assume it should take a little over an hour. After dinner we will return to the Little America for a no host social hour or two in the Tiffany Tree Lounge. ------------------ |

Ed and Rickster, I have modified the list. John Ross, Great to hear that you will be there in your beautiful chromeillusion painted Prowler! Suncat, dinner's at 6. I know that you need to be on the road to PIR I recieved a note from Jerry Scholten today and he would very much like to be there to put on a small tech session for us. Jerry will be available for a question and answer session if he gets there. Good luck Jerry. We'd love to have you here. Many of the Prowler owners on the West Coast will probably never make it to CAAP and your presemce would be a very helpful to the Left Coast Owners. ------------------ |

Rick - We get this close and still don't meet! Have a good time in Lost Wages, Nev. CJ and Bob, I'm really excited now. Bring pictures of grandkids, as Sondra will talk Michigan talk until we are all BLUE! John Ross and his cat, may have more colors in it than the Grand Canyon! Everyone, bring extra film for this Prowler. Larry Lord- We can now plan to stay for saturday dinner. And a huge thank you for putting this massive plan together - makes that seven hour typing class you had look worthwhile. |
