Trim: I chose Migliore Trim Protectant as it leaves a matte finish on surfaces. I applied the trim protectant to the trim around the windshield, the driver and passenger doors, as well as the front and rear bumpers. |

Wheels: I removed each wheel to ensure proper cleaning, especially the barrels that are hard to reach when mounted. I applied Migliore Bella Lustre tire glaze to the tires. I chose this tire glaze as it does not give them a wet look, but rather a black tire look, and does not sling. I gave the chrome wheels a final wipe down and stood back and allowed the results of my hard work to soak in. |

Exhaust tips: I wiped the exhaust tips with NEVR DULL. I had purchased P21S Polishing Soap, but found the NEVR DULL to do excellent work on the exhaust tips. Once cleaned and polished, I wiped them down with my black microfiber towel. |

Thanks for the extensive details. I use and like Wolfgang products and especially the hand applicator for clay bar work. |

Hamlyn, thanks for that comprehensive tutorial. I read every word and found it very interesting. You didn't mention what polish you used on the wheels but I assume it was also the Never Dull. You must have spent an absolute fortune on all the different products. Do you see this as a yearly procedure with just repeating some of the later steps, maybe halfway through the season? |

quote: I had used NEVR DULL on the wheels a few days before I actually removed them and gave them a thorough cleaning. The NEVR DULL did a remarkable job. I did, however, use Wolfgang Uber Wheel Cleaner on the wheels when I took them off for thorough outside and inside cleaning. I sprayed down the wheels and allowed the cleaner to dwell for a couple of minutes. The wheel cleaner, as it works and breaks down dirt from the wheel, will turn colors (purple). I could not tell if the wheels on the Prowler were coated, so I did not apply any product on them. I bought Migliore Wheel Seal, but did not use it on this set of wheels. The wheels, after wiping them down inside and out, looked great. Yes, I did go on a spending spree for this new hobby. I see myself doing this as needed. Every quarter or so for the Prowler. I don't expect that I will do any corrective care on the paint, but clean and wax every so often. My daily driver is a '13 Gran Coupe. I will probably do more frequent detailing on that car. It's really a time waster more than anything else. This message has been edited by Hamlyn on 11-05-2013 at 05:30 PM |

Hamlyn: Thank you for the most comprehensive and complete detailing I have ever read. I was exhausted just reading so I cannot imagine the fatigue from actually DOING all that work! It certainly shows as the car is simply beautiful. Thanks again for sharing. |

Very impressive. I have bought a lot of detailing equipment myself but haven't used any of it yet. I see you had good results never argue with good results. Everyone was their favorite products. My wife does our detailing and she is set in her ways all I can do is suggest. I bought a small electric pressure washer this Summer and I like to use the high pressure to remove the heavy stuff from my work car before I wash it. Anything you can get off of the car without rubbing saves you from scratching when you hand wash. |

I've had mine 'ultra detailed' two times by an absolute artist in the craft. My paint was in about the same condition as yours the first time, only worse. The car looked brand new when he was finished, but it was not cheap. The initial detail job cost me close to $500. He worked on it for about 15 straight hours. Great job! All the work you put into it was worth it. Outstanding looking. Looks like a $1,000 job to me. Thanks for sharing all of your notes. This message has been edited by EdsCat on 01-20-2014 at 06:58 AM |

Hamlyn, My top two favorite pictures among the numerous pictures you've helpfully posted on your thread here about detailing the Prowler are these two: However, maybe you need to "buff out" with more detail work... ...the arches of a building depicted as emanating frontward from the rear of your Prowler's hood in the first picture, and ...those branches of a tree depicted as emanating rearward from the front of your Prowler's hood in the second picture. |

Thanks. I like those shots, too. Interestingly, it is the shots that I didn't think would come out good that ended up being among the best. I recently picked up some Zymol Vintage wax. I will hand wax the Prowler and see what, if anything, it does for the car. This message has been edited by Hamlyn on 03-05-2014 at 07:23 PM |

Much appreciation Hamlyn! I hope you're still following this thread. After reading everything you wrote, I took the plunge and started researching the sources you provided and after about 15 hours of that, watching videos, reading reviews, etc, I started buying supplies. Last Saturday, I started the process. After about 30 hours of claying, compounding, polishing, applying 2 coats of sealant and about to start my 3rd coat of Carnuba.. it's hard not to just sit and stare at the car! The difference is absolutely unbelievable. I actually thought my paint was looking pretty good when I bought the car 3 weeks ago until I got up close, felt it and really scrutinized it. Now, it's like a mirror. Mine is yellow and I don't have anything special when it comes to a camera (iPhone) so it doesn't show up anywhere near as reflective as your orange Kat in pictures, but it definitely reflects! And it's smooth as glass. And it's got depth, probably the first time in it's 15 year life (am I gloating? sorry... haha) Thank you for all of the time and effort you put in to providing details for my detail! Holy cow, that was a LOT of work though.. I'll be sore for weeks. Still have to do the interior, more products on the way. Couldn't be happier I saw your post and decided to invest. Thank you again!
