Get your attention?? lol I had always the rear transaxle cooler made my car look wimpy, like a wind up car or something. Even with the nice cooler covers that are out I still did not like the look. Sooooooooooooooooooooo Now you see it, ;
I ran a LED to the dash to monitor the frequency and duration the fan actually kicks in. You can see the cut out portions of the cooler cover, that is for rock protection, if any. And to allow more air to pass through, as I think these covers block good flow through the fins. If it all works good for a few thousand miles, I will get Obi Wan to come up with a more functional cover if needed. So now, it looks more like a hot rod to me anyway, with lots of chrome to see. This pics do now show all the new items as yet, and I have not put all the polished hardware back on yet, but you get the idea. I'm a happy guy.

It all looks chrome but some parts are part of the frame and have to be polished. What is polished and what is chrome. I think the look is great. Keep us posted this summer on the results of the cooler move. |

Thanks all Rich, the tail pipes are off. I am keeping the same tips, and muffler, but hope to get the pipes a cleaned up a bit. Also, I took the muffler and center pipe off to take to a shop to weld a bung for a Bosch O2 sensor to work the AEG air/fuel guage like Al has. |

I only have one piece polished Rich, other than the frame itself. And that is going to the chromer next. This message has been edited by jd2ksilver on 03-27-2005 at 12:22 AM |

Thanks all for your replies. I will try to get the pics of the project posted in the scrapbook section soon.
Polished= lower cross member, rear stabilizer bars, frame. I intend to chrome the polished items as I want to stick with the same theme throughout the car. thomas leuschner; The led hookup comes off the relay in the power distribution box, located on the drivers side front panel. I got this idea from Dick Osgood (of the steering wheel shifter fame). It was he who did this long ago to monitor the fans. The tranny fan actually comes on infrequently, but at what would be consider less stressful times, ie; just driving at a steady speed, and not so much under duress as once thought.
I had Gary E in LA do the chrome work for me. Great stuff, and, if by chance you don't like a part, send it back and redone at no charge. I had the polished work from Obi-Wan's contact. I think you should go to them for the prices. The frame is polished by me, and I know not nearly as complete as other Kat's have their's done, but I'm working on it. jan bruggeman; Yes the fan is in. I have had a blown engine, and a tranny during this cars life time. I have learned to respect it's needs. That said, I still want to push it for looks and speed. The fan works great in there. There is air flow. If anything, these cooler covers restricts the air flow more. The cooler clears the tires. I was worried about rocks being thrown up, but it was suggested by Obi-Wan that is actually a pretty safe place. I will monitor the fins, and if they do not show signs of new damage I would like to take the cover off completely. Time will tell, thanks all for you interest and replies.
