Hi everone . Sorry to say Im throwing in the towel on this Hemi project . With the engine sitting in place the back of the engine touching the rear aluminum crossmember The tip of the water pump and belt tensioners are 1/2 inch away from the radiator . Their is no room for any kind of fan ! As you know their is no room for the rad to be moved ahead . The width is no problem lots of room for headers the stock manifolds dont work . The only proper way to do this is to cut and move the firewall back about 5 inches. Their is no way Im going to cut up this car or butcher it . Its just to nice a car the way it is . Im probably going to sell the Hemi and purchase a paxton setup for it, or put the Hemi in my wifes car . |

Sad news, but sometimes a good retreat is better than a sloppy stand. Look on the bright side. You own a PROWLER! Hang in there! |

Mopar, why not spend those hemi $ on redoing the internals of the motor and trans to make it really go and put in a twin turbo set up? |

I appauld you for trying. It's probably a smart decision to stop before you cut up the car, especially not knowing if even after that it would work. There are some decent performance options still available out there. Let us know what you decide to do. Happy Prowling Marty ------------------ |

Would it be possible to make (or have made) a custom radiator that is smaller but thicker and move it forward about 4-5" and then use electric fans on it????? Just a guess. I really wanted to see the hemi in it!!!!!!! |

Moparmania, I'll look and see if I can find your other thread where I asked if you had thought about a twin small radiator set up. We ALL wanted to see you pull this off. The cooling problem should be able to be worked out. Let us know. ------------------ |

Mopar - I agree with Marty. At least you tried to make a dream come true! It took some big ones to try and pull it off. ------------------ |

Mine, Dan Pena, and another have moved our radiators up one inch. Took some cutting and re-fab, but it could be done. |

You have to modify this piece which is the front end of your Kat... Hard to see but here you can see where the cutting occured. The new radiator is a 4 row, serpintine radiator with dimpled tubes. That is the water flows like "S" through the radiator so it will go accross the fan 3 times. |

Dan the second last picture is a good example . You can barely get your fingers between the coil spring upper mounting bolts and your a/c condenser on a stock Prowler. Even if you moved the rad ahead 1 inch and threw the a/c condenser in the garbage . The other 4 inches would have you moving the complete coil springs & front suspension ahead . Which would be stetching the whole car another major mod.. I want to cruise with the top down and the a/c on full blast!! |

Oddly enough, I saw a car (I think a 32 chopped coupe?) this weekend that had a front end similar to the prowler. Anyway, they put the electric fans IN FRONT of the radiator not behind it. It looks like you'd have room to do this and that would get rid of the fans behind the radiator all together. |

Don't give up just yet. Think about relocating the water pump to make room for an electric fan. Companies like Mezier racing in Escondido, CA can probably make you a billet aluminum remotely mounted electric water pump and billet low profile plumbing to hook it all together. You can probably get them anodized in the color of your choice too. Call them up and ask. http://www.meziere.com/home.htm

the 4row is made by ron davis racing radiators in phx.he has a web site same name.i believe i pd.about 760.00.a beautiful piece of work.he does a lot of nascar rads also, and a good warranty.my original one from him was out of warranty,i removed it to do some other wofk, and noticed it had a leak at the top sides,it was out of warranty probably 6 months he said send it back, which i did,he didnt even repair it ,he made another one for me. no charge.good co.to do business with.i was expecting a runaround, because out of warranty,or at the most a repair,he replaced, because he said it shouldnt have leaked. ------------------ |
