Some may like it and some may not, I was going to make these for my car and my dads but if you guys like them I will pull molds for the outside shell, if I did so the panels would run about $350 a pair and you would need to make your own brackets or cut your headlight pods and bond them to it. Dan - I believe he would need a set of awesome round headlights! Bob - Last year I was getting quotes of $1500 to $2000 for a set of plain panels to replace the headlight area. When I told them I wanted fins and louvers the price for fabrication went up even more. I was finally able to work out a deal with someone dating a lady I work with and I still paid more than double what you are quoting here. The lights were the cheap part. It will be interesting to see if you get any interest in this - I wish you had then a year ago! I'd probably go for them and a new chrome grill instead. |

Trying to come up with a way to use Harley V-Rod headlight just have not come up with the right mounting bracket yet, if I cannot make it work plan B is to use some 6" Firestar Bullit Chrome motorcycle headlights with a flame pattern in them with a Tri Bar lense. |

Where are you going to mount them. Low like mine, or higher up like the Paxton kat? It's just a matter of personal preference I guess. I had a simple bracket made to attach to the brace where the upper A-arm connects. |

I like the low mount look. Possibly even lower than Marty's. I am still trying to convince Purple Lady to eventually change our Kat to the round healdight look. There are so many things I want to do the only problem is the bucks. |

I'm talking with Rob Ida about fabricating something similar to the So-Cal car using the stock front grill. This message has been edited by butchcee on 01-23-2003 at 08:54 AM |

I was thinking of keeping everything in yellow instead of chrone or mill finish.

Al - The So-Cal people told me they had over $10,000 in custom grill work on that car. Theirs extended all the way back into the side panels and they removed the side markers. Hope you go for it (you too Rich) I would love to see some more kats with round headlights! Hey Bob - you think the folks at Cruisin the Caost would think the round headlight model Prowlers were made before or after the ones without bumpers? |

oops - I was replying before you posted the pic of the side view showing the side marker had been removed - so I guess you already know that! |

Marty, 10 G's is way too much for me, that's why I would use the stock front grill. It looks like they used one piece front and side grill work. |

Al - they said the grill work was by "birdman" or some name like that if I recall right. I guess the guy is well known in California hot rod circles. I couldn't justify that much either. Since I had fins made on my headlight replacement panels that continue the lines of the stock grill, I am limited and can not change my grill. The panels Bob is making would allow you to do anything you wanted with the grill but wouldn't give you the same look as the So-Cal car.

Butchee I just spoke to the guy working on my stret rod style grill and he knows the guys at IDA, if that is what you are after I am sure this guy can do it, his name is Dan Baker his number is 814-932-7405, Rich, on the street rod grill his fiberglass guy is holding him up so I am going to cut up and alter a TGF grill so I can get him a shell so he can finsh up. Marty I think that they would say the ones with round headlights are a SPECIAL EDITION that were only offered to a select few and are highly collectable. |

Bob, thanks for Dan's name and number. Right now plans are in the discussion stage. If I decide to go this way, I would prefer to let Ida handle it because of location. Thanks for the continuing work you do for the Prowler owners. |

What does that say about us? I guess I'm OK with either way. Imitation is a form of flattery, but I like what I have done with the round lights and like being unique. How many sets you gonna make? If I REALLY like your new grill, I may have to replace my finned panels. |

If I made molds I could make them in about 2 hours a piece with out it takes around 10 and I would need to fit each one on my car so I would have to pull it apart everytime. |

I'll look forward to seeing the finished product on your car. I guess if I REALLY like them it wouldn't be the first time I have bought parts off your car! I'll let you know when my travel arangements to Minn. are confirmed. |

I like the height! What diameter are they? I assume the inside will almost touch your covers once you put them on. You are using modified RealRod covers to fill the hole, right?

6 1/2" wide by 7" tall its hard to tell by the pic but the glass is angled back like the nose of the car they have 2 bulbs in them 1 for high and 1 for low beam and yes I will cut the classic panel to fit around. When the final bracket is made it will be out billit aluminum and will be machined to cover up the top A-Arm nut and also have a channel in it to hide the wires. |

Bob - be careful how you aim the headlioghts. With them mounted so low you need to angle them up to throw light where YOU need it but it also tends to get a light brighter than normal in the mirror of those in front. I have had several comments including one from a County Police Officer about it. My lights sure do light up the the Green overhead signs on the Interstates from a long distance. After you pointed it out I noticed the angle of the lights -cool! Marty |
