Will this fit on a mopar/borla system? What are the benefits? What is the cost? I know it's from paxton but, I can't find it on their site anywhere. Thanks |

Having not seen one, I thought the pipe replaced the muffler (which is why, to me anyway, it would make it sound more like a v-12) After seeing the pipes, what exactly does it replace? I have the pipes from the engine to the muffler, the muffler, and the pipes exiting the car. Looks to me like something has to be welded somewhere. What is the cost of these? Gary, that small pipe adds 10 hp? Cool if it does but, I thought the whole borla exhaust system didn't add that much. What gives with the pipe then? Thanks. The x-pipe goes between the cats and muffler(s) It allows the exhaust to go through pipe with least pressure thus easing back pressure. Since cylinders fire at slightly different times, the exhaust gases are released into the exhaust not as a continuous flow but rather a series of blasts. When the gases reach the x-pipe they will flow to the chamber with least resistance. A lot of hot rodders have used an h-pipe design for years to do about the same thing by welding a section of pipe between the two sides of a dual exhaust system. The x-pipe is a freer flowing version of the same concept. I don't know about the HP claims, but every little bit helps. Marty |

Thanks Marty! Would the pipe make that much of a difference in sound? Does it have to be welded or is it a bolt on piece? Anyone know the price? Thanks |

I don't know Paxton's price but believe it to be around $300 to $350. I had my exhaust guy hand bend and weld one together. I used it when I had glass packs and it fit from the cats to the glass packs. Total cost including buying and installing the glass packs was under $200. Paxtons X-pipe does have to be welded on as you can see here on my KAT!!

Thanks Dan. This may be a silly question but, with the mopar/borla system it is two pipes into one catback muffler then into two pipes. Wouldn't the muffler be doing this mixing? On your setup, I notice it is two distinct mufflers so the x-pipe makes perfect sense for you. Perhaps it would for me to, not sure, that's why I am asking. Thanks again. |

The theory goes the x-pipe or h-pipe should be as close to the exhaust manifolds as possible. Yes the muffler would in theory be doing the crossover. Don't know the details behind the borla exhaust so I'm not the person to ask. Later... |
