heres the lowdown.step by step, remove side panel ,cut 1/4"off hinge stop, touchup, where cut.take bolts, 2 out of dr.check stop, take 8 -1/8th plated flatwashers, and put 4 each behind check, where it mounts to hinge pillar, bolts are plenty long.now you will be able to open dr,5 to 6 inches wider.do not cut more than 1/4 inch or dr. edge will hit hinge.5 to 6 inchs is plenty.8.00 is for pack of 5 4" cut off wheels you will need to trim hinge stops.time 1-1/2 hrs. per side at most.if you are mech. inclined its very easy,or you can pay crackhead,900.00 to 2000.00 to do it. cutting hinge does not weaken at all.putting 4 washers behind check does not make it interfere, with anything.mod has the alley cat stamp of approval.i will ask dan pena to also post photos . so you can see where to cut.you will see a pink line on hinge thats it.standard opening,30" now 35 to 36.enjoy the mod you will like it.jbcatfish.pics,now added.see pink line on hinge, thats what you cut. ------------------ This message has been edited by jan bruggeman on 07-29-2002 at 03:29 PM |

yes.they are from a 2001 330i,and they also get rid of stupid yellow light and provide more airflow.lets out a lot of heat.time to install. about 2 hrs each.38.00 a grille epoxy on backside. cut side panel w/a sabresaw w/ metal blade.cut slow.you can cut thru both sides of side pnl. at once.tape edge where you cut and no pnt. damage.can you tell i like simple inexpensive mods.also have a aux.10" fan controlled by seperate on/off switch, behind grille, pushes a lot of cool air. ------------------ |

Easier mod than doors. If I lay off the twinkies for a week or two, I can fit in the stock opening with no problem. Only have to cut caloric intake and not car ------------------ Driving a car is just transportation, |

Door mod pics for Jan, he'll have to explain what we're looking at. I edited the pictures so they would be in the correct order, I hope that's the correct order Jan. I take it the second picture shows a white mark on the the door stop, is that where you need to cut? Al This message has been edited by Al's Prowler on 07-29-2002 at 04:09 PM |

Al thks for posting the pics, gives you a better look at their proportion to the side panels. I like them, it's hard to figure out the door part from the pics though. PK |

Keith, you're welcome, I'm a little confused myself about the pictures. After re-reading Jan's first post I see he said to remove the side pannel not the door pannel like the other post had, I think that's what we see when the side pannels are removed? The last picture looks like the door pannel is removed, I can't see why you need to remove it. I guess we'll have to wait for Jan to let us know what we're looking at. |

yes,i did remove dr.panel, although you dont have to.i removed to get my hand on dr. check to make it a little easier.take nuts off dr. ckeck and you can pull backwards for a little more clearence for washer install.you will also have to put something on bolt w/washers to keep them from falling off, when lining up w/holes in hinge pillar. ------------------ |
