Well, Jay (and all) it came on Thursday, and installed on Friday! Piece of cake installation with myself and friend Ray ... directions head-on (except I wanna meet that feller that can loosen those hangers with his thumbs! LOL). Packaging great, excitement level through the roof in anticipation! After installing the mudflaps all around and putting the great yellow shimmers in the rear bumper, got down to the 'fun part'. With the entire drivers side in the air, we went to task and surfaced less than an hour later with no major, or even minor scratches The installation went very nicely, the instruction sheet 'right on the nose' ... nice job there too Jay. Now for the 'test' drive... Fired it up, and.... couldnt tell much difference! Bummmmmmmmmmmmin And THEN! Woooohoooo! as previously commented WOT is the WAY to GO on these! What a difference. And dyno-smyno... the butt says BIG difference! Can ya tell I absolutely LOVE EM? and the timing couldnt have been better... takin off in the mornin for Another Cruise To Texas! Yeeehaaaaaaaaa. LOVE EM Jay! The extra 'throat' is JUST WHAT THEY NEED! JMO, of course!

Marty... I am very anxious to hear your personal opinion as you will have the very FIRST MODIFIED (without catalytic convertors) Cat with the SSS installed. I sincerely hope it satisfies your personal requirements as we discussed. Let me know ASAP. Also, I am waiting to hear from a bottle fed Cat Owner who is replacing a competitive muffler with the SSS. These will be interesting as I never thought of modified Cats as an option when the SSS was being designed. There is no reason it should not work extremely well, but maybe a little too loud if anything For those Supercharged Cats... look for some feedback real soon as the SSS is being installed behind some existing headers... this will really be a test with all that extra pressure and power! It should be interesting to say the least. THANKS for everything, Jay ------------------ |

Jay - I had my local brake and muffler shop install the SSS yesterday. Must have been easy - he only charged me $40 including turning my front brake rotors also! I wanted to try the SSS because with the cats removed and Paxton headers installed my glass packs were too loud and obnoxious at higher RPM. With the SSS I still get the low rumble while idling and great sounds at lower RPM. For me the best part is now I nail it without being afraid of the sound coming out beiong so loud you could hera it a mile away - literally. The car REALLY sounds good now. Thanks for a quality product. I will look forwrd to hearing the sounds on a stock exhaust system. ALso, I will let you know once (if)my nitrous is finished how it sounds. THANKS Marty... that was GREAT news!!! I have been very anxious ever since we talked as you are the only customer that wanted a "reduced" sound... most (stockers) want "more" sound. I was also concerned as your catalytic convertors were removed, just how much impact that would have on the "quality" of the sound that has really been very exciting. As advertised, the installation is really easy and specifically designed for the do-it-yourself Cat owner without any cutting or welding. Looks like the SSS fulfilled your requirements and for that I am thankful. I am pleased that you like it and now I am waiting on that "bottle fed" Cat to report in. Again, THANK YOU for your continued support of my products and taking time to reply and hope they continue to add excitement to your Prowler Owner experience. Looking forward to your visiting Florida... don't forget to come by and say Hi. Sincerely, Jay ------------------ |

Marty - just curious. With the cats removed, did you notice an increase or decrease in power after you installed the SSS? Also, have you had your kat hooked up to the computer to see what the O2 sensors are reading? ------------------ |

Cliff - performance wise I did not notice any change but the sound is definetely more pleasing than the glass packs without the cats. I noticed increase in performance without cats and decrease in heat being generated. I owuld say the sound of the SSS without cats is pretty close to sound of Purple Hornie 18" glass packs with cats installed. I have not had engine hooked up but check engine light has never come on since I removed the Catalytic convertors. I believe it was MikeK that posted that he tested one of his cars without cats and passed the Texas standard. Our standards are a little higher but car still would have passed except we have a visual inspection plus they hook up to the ECU for readings also. That's why I flanged the cats, to put back on easity. ------------------ Driving my Dream This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 04-24-2002 at 01:13 PM |

JMO, but I think the SSS would pass ANY "visual" inspection... would take a real 'pro' to know the difference as there is no outward sign of modification ------------------ |

A unique SSS insignia is being designed to place on the exhaust tips... very subtle with the "Cat & SSS" as part of the design. I tested 2 types of adhesive during the Prowlin' the Keys event... one passed and the other failed, so now to finalized a "in good taste" design insignia for the SSS equipped Cats. Also, be looking for a "fully polished" SSS Prowler muffler soon. THANKS, Jay ------------------ |

SSS Installed on Tuesday. WHAT a difference! I drove by a friends house that I have been too many times after the install. He was in the house and heard the sound and could not imagine who it was. It sounded great! Underpasses are cool! Only was to go! Great job Jay.....Looking forward for the logo... Frank |

It will be interesting to hear the sounds in Colorado. We have the non-mopar Borla exhaust without the baffles in the tips and the sound is wonderful. In a broad range of rpm if you open the throttle it has a loud, deep howl like a Kat should have. Everyone turns to look. If the cops are around you can do lower rpm and less bore and they won't notice you. Its a trade-off. I've had cars with exhaust systems I built myself with a wonderful roar you could hear 4 miles away--but now I have a hearing problem. ------------------ |
