quote: You are correct Gary, I have almost 4000 transactions on ebay. The opening bid is the lowest bid you can enter. You can't have an opening bid of $5.00 on an opening of $29,500. The starting bid is the starting bid, no lower |

Wow, it is not rocket science. If you have a starting bid of $ 500 to get some interest, then you need to have a reserve, to protect someone from stealing it. If you have a starting bid for what you are asking for it, you don't need a reserve at all. |

Ways to list Buy it now These are the only ways I have done business on Ebay. There may be more.I know these work for me. I prefer Buy it now but Auction w/reserve and starting price will work too. 350 transactions / no problems. 100% score If you list an item for auction and a starting price and someone just bids the starting price, I don't see how that does anything. The buyer knows he can not buy the item for the starting price. He also knows that is not the reserve. The ONLY thing that might be on the buyers mind is that if no one buys he has his name as a contact to sell for the starting price if the seller will go for it. Your last paragraph is TOTALLY WRONG. If I list a Prowler for $29,750 and someone bids THAT STARTING price, he wins the auction IF NO ONE ELSE BIDS. If you start the auction at 29,750 and the reserve is 29,751 he wouldn't win and it wouldn't sell. Once it gets up into the higher dollars, you can't just raise the bid by a penny or $5. It graduates as the price goes up. I don't recall if it is $ 50, 100 or 250 increments, but it does go up as the price goes up. The opening bid can win. If I post something for one cent and someone bids one cent, without a reserve, it sells. This message has been edited by ed monahan on 04-28-2017 at 02:23 PM |

Also, you can have an auction with a starting price and no reserve, and I doubt if you can have an auction without a starting price, but I am not positive of that. |

quote: Ebay said the bidder could be contacted and offered the car for the starting price he bid if I wanted to sell it for that. I said yes. He was contacted and replied with a phone number. I called 3 times and never got an answer. The buyer is in Co. I don't think he'd drive a 3700 round trip miles to buy a Prowler. But if he wants it ,it's here. The stock orginal side panels w/lights and the stock grill and stock mudflaps and car cover are worth around $1000. I threw that into the deal. I'm all in. quote: Hi Gary, my post wasn't too clear (much like this thread is getting). Without a reserve and without a starting bid, then yes, someone could bid $5.00 and take the car. I believe Ed laid it out quite clearly, which is what I was trying to say but failed. Sorry! |

2 things. When listing on Ebay you must have a starting bid if it's an auction. If you've never made 1 single contribution to this site you shouldn't be allowed to use site to sell your stuff. |

I have had enough of you and others like you that pretend to be innocent when most of us here know damn well that all you want to do is stir things up, get someone going and hope they post something you can use against them from that point forward. Here are the size four shoes I have waiting for you. And NO Robin, apparently we can't all get along. Not as long as there are folks here that stir up crap while pretending to be innocent victims.
