I'll be hosting the 5th Annual Prowler Drags at No Problem Raceway in Belle Rose, LA in conjunction with the 2nd Annual Mopar vs Corvette Club Charity event I'm also hosting. I'll sponsor the POA as one of the Charity Event hosts clubs for the Mopar side. THe date is now set for Sunday, Feb. 20th 2005. . If there is enough interest on the Prowler side, I'll arrange some track time for Wed. Night, Fri. Night or Sunday. Since I'm hosting the Mopar vs Vette challenge, I could use some extra Prowlers to take on the Vette clubs.
Update Nov. 5th, 2004. I've selected the local charity for this event. Charity Event Beneficiary Announced The benefits from the 2nd Annual Mopar vs Vette Club Charity event and 5th Annual Prowler Drags will go to the Landon Robert Donation account. Here's an update from Marion Boudreaux, Secretary, No Problem Raceway, Belle Rose, LA. "Landon is a 4 1/2 yr. old little boy from Belle Rose, LA who needs everyone's help. When he was 1&1/2 yrs old he was diagnosed with clear cell sarcoma (cancer) and went through very extensive treatment. Just 2 weeks ago he was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. He had successful surgery yesterday and his treatments will run for about a year. If he makes it through all of his treatments he will have a 30% chance of surviving for 5 years. London's mom and dad are going through such a hard time. Thank You for your support and please keep Landon and his family in your prayers." ------------------ This message has been edited by Laddie Roussel on 11-05-2004 at 07:09 AM |

Thanks for the update Laddie. It's too far out right now for me to clear my work schedule for this yet, but I would LOVE to be there. Maybe I could actually finish a 1/4 mile there under power! |

Laddie: Such a sad story! What a wonderful charity to give to!! Their family will remain in our thoughts and prayers! Marty: The first time wasn't the driver, you had the misfortune of losing your engine (and Reba's lipstick was still in the passenger seat ) - you had me that day, the second one you were gaining on me really fast and I'm here to tell you you had me really nervous!! My foot was going through the floorboard trying to get as much power out of her as possible!! Another 25 feet and you would have won!! Trust me, if I had the extra bucks to put towards the engine mine would be up at Westec with yours!! You are right, that's what makes bracket racing fun! Heads up is great when you are fairly evenly matched - but brackets makes it possible for everyone to have a great time! T |

Westech's latest performance mod is cutting a hole in the floorboard and inserting an indented well so you can push the gas pedal further! |

Everything is set for Sunday, Feb. 20th, 2005 at No Problem Raceway. The 5th Annual Prowler Drags will conincide with the 2nd Annual Mopar vs Vette Car Club Challenge...
Landon Robert's will be the beneficiary of this year's event. Pat Joffrion (NPR Track owner & Marion Boudreaux (Track secretary) asked if we would consider helping the Landon's family with this year's benefit. I thought it was a wonderful idea. I've also spoken with the lead person with the Assumption Parish Relay for Life teams and they also agree helping Landon would be welcome and helpful. Here's some background from Marion on Landon: "Landon is a 5 yr. old little boy from Belle Rose, LA who needs everyone's help. Landon's Mom and Dad are going through such a hard time. Thank You for your support and please keep Landon and his family in your prayers."
This year the Event Fee will be $10 for everyone. Children under 13 are Free. So, to either race or be a spectator will be $10.
GNOCC Greater New Orleans Corvette Club - approved donating $100
Flyer ... Sunday, Feb. 20th No Problem Raceway
Admission $10 for Spectators or Racers. Children under 13 Free; Tech Card will be given to Club members and family. Any profits will go to Landon Robert's Donation Fund a local five year old boy fighting cancer in Belle Rose, LA Trophy Bracket Racing and Heads Up Challenge ... Three Classes ... Members are invited to bring whichever car, truck they wish and family members are also invited. There will be classic cars and new cars. Any questions you can contact me here or or email... |

Tami - I've driving down on Saturday 2/19. I am hoping Gary Archer decides to join me. I guess we'll stay at the Holiday in in Gonzales like we did at Cruisin the Coast a couple of year ago. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 01-21-2005 at 10:23 AM |

Laddie - what time do you think the event will be over? Will people stay in Gonzales that evening or I should we plan to start heading home after the event? When reserving a room online the hotel does not allow any changes ands will cahrge our credit card for the entire stay so I don't want to book two nights there if everybody is heading out right after the event. If ecryone is leaving I would just as soon drive a few hours and cut down on the 11 hour drive home on Monday. |

Marty: Excellent - remember that hotel from the 2002 CTC event. I will make reservations there too. Good question - yes if everyone is heading out - will take off after the event as well and get a few hours down on the return trip. T |

Marty & Tami. We should end Sunday around 5:00 pm... You could get a 3 hour start on return trip... I see where the Holiday Inn in Gonzales is the Official track hotel & that is where we stayed two years ago. http://www.noproblemraceway.com/ Not sure of rates...There's also a Best Western in Donaldsonville (Hwy 70) which is closer to track (10 mins from NPR) Here's link to Best Western... I can check on rates on Monday... Mike stayed at Best Western last year... |

Holidy Inn is either $59.16 as of yesterday. I guess we'll just stay Sat night and leave after the event and get somewhere up into Mississippi Sunday evening. Tami - I'll check out the other hotels web site and let you know where we make reservations. This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 01-22-2005 at 09:17 AM |

Marty: Thanks! I'll probably just take off Sunday after the event and drive straight through myself. It's 8 hours and I could be home around 1 or 2. T |
