This article was in the Spring/Summer 2002 issue of the Walter P. Chrysler Museum magazine called "Forward". Does the guy in the picture look familiar? It's YellerCat!!! I couldn't figure out how to make this bigger, so here is what the text says: Classic cruising cars, live oldies rock-and-roll entertainment and refreshments highlight DaimlerChrysler's tribute to the 1950s'-1960s' American car culture. This event benefits the Children's Miracle Network - last year to the tune of $90,000. Ticket for adults 21 and over are priced at $40 each. Beer, wine, soft drinks, burgers and hot dogs head the menu at the 7:30 to 12 midnight event. Included in the ticket price is a black 2002 logo T-shirt (hence the name) and free parking. For more information, after June 15, call (800) 422-7596. |

To Gene and all others who are planning on attending the Woodward Dream Cruise in August: Carol Schultz and the Make A Difference Foundation is again hosting an event for the Woodward Dream Cruise. It is my understanding from Carol that these spaces will be open to anyone with any type of hot rod or custom car. Here is a link to some information that Carol posted earlier on this year's arrangements. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/000522.html In my last conversation with Carol a couple of months ago, she indicated that she was securing rooms at the same hotel as last year, the Marriott Centrepointe. Last year's rates were $99 a night. I do not know if this information is still accurate. You will need to contact Carol per her information at the above link. Back in January and February, when a number of you came to Detroit for the Auto Show and the CAAP Tribute event, I had booked rooms at the Homestead Suite Hotel. A great number of you who said you might return for Dream Cruise indicated you would like to stay there again vs. the other hotel. Both hotels are within a couple miles of each other and both are convenient to Woodward, Pontiac, DC Headquarters (where the Black Tee Party is held) and the Chrysler Museum. I spoke to the Homestead Suites Hotel and have seccured a block of rooms for anyone who would prefer to stay there. If you are planning a stay at this hotel, please make your reservations as soon as possible. I have confirmed a special POA rate of $49.00/night for a Queen and $52/night for a King, and have secured a block of 40 rooms. If we need more, they will provide them based on availability. There is a dealine of August 1, 2002 for making your reservation for these rooms. At that time, if there are any rooms left, they will release them to the general public. You would perhaps still be able to get one, but it would be better to make your reservation early. To make your reservations, call the hotel at 248.340.8888 and ask for extension #5003. You will be speaking with the General Sales Manager, David Carroll. Tell him you are with the Prowler Owners Association group and that the arrangements were made through CJ Longstreth. We had several people stay at this hotel during the last Dream Cruise, the CAAP Tour/Auto Show weekend and the CAAP Tribute weekend and I believe that they were very happy with it. If you need any help with this, please contact me by email or phone. (Home is 248.650.3321 and work is 586.781.5331) Please keep in mind that because it is a Suites hotel, it does not have an in-house restaurant. However, there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance and driving distance. Here is more info on the hotel: Hotel Description The Homestead Suites in Auburn Hills is a first class hotel located 43 miles from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport. Each attractive studio suite features a fully equipped kitchen, something you won't find in a typical hotel. Plus, there's a comfortable workspace. You will be pleasantly surprised when you check in to one of the hotel's studio suites. Surrounding Area Location Description: Homestead Auburn Hills is located in the heart of University Technology Park and adjacent to Daimler Chrysler World Headquarters. Bed Type: 1QN Property Information USD is the native currency. Hotel Driving Directions From Detroit Metropolitan Airport (43M): You must present a photo ID when checking in. Your credit card is charged at the time you book. Bed type and smoking preferences are not guaranteed. Your reservation is prepaid and is guaranteed for late arrival. The total charge includes all room charges and taxes, as well as fees for access and booking. Any incidental charges such as parking, phone calls, and room service will be handled directly between you and the property. Cancellation Period: At least 72 HOURS prior to arrival. Bookings are subject to a $50 USD fee for any CANCELLATION/CHANGE. If cancellation occurs within 6 PM, a one-night charge will be assessed. --------------------------- I am still gauging how many people will be in a bit early as to whether I will plan any other activities for the Prowler group that week. Will keep you updated on that! |

I stayed at both hotels, both are fairly new and nice places, but for the $$$$ and convenences I would stay at Homestead. It is extended stay hotel and has Frig & microwave in room. They do not have alot of parking for trailers but maybe this can be worked out for those towing. |
