Marty, sounds good. I would highly recommend the Louisville Slugger Museum. I have been thru the new one twice and would consider going again. You get to see them take a block of wood (after sorting them by quality) and turn it into a baseball bat right in front of your eyes. It is very interesting even if you are not a baseball fan. You see the entire process on your walk thru the plant and there is a very short film and a lot of nice memorabilia. Cool place. ------------------ |

Gene - great!! We will look forward to your visit. As we get closer, we can nail down some timing and directions, etc. Hopefully, some of the Michigan folks and people from the South will join us also. I have heard from a few from Ohio, Indiana, Illinois that are thinking about showing up also. Some of them may make it a day trip. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Mike - As I said earlier, I totally understand that. As the event dates draw closer, if you - or anyone - has any problem with reservations, etc. please let me know. We have a 25 room blaock now and can get more based on availabliity at the time. I would love to fill that and have a great turnout. But whatever the case - we WILL have a good time!! CJ - have you figured out yet how to decide which CAT to drive on trips or are you going to try to limit the miles on the Candy Red? You can't lose whichever one you choose!! We're just happy to hear you plan on attending. It looks like we will have a decent turnout. It will be fun to show up the other clubs. Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream |

Rich - glad to hear you all will be coming. One of the newer POA members that lives in Tennessee - Gary Archer - asked on an other post if anybody else from the South was attending. I am going to get the first list of reservations from the hotel at the end of this week. I will post those attending over the weekend. Marty

Steve - I called Churchill Downs and asked what is absolute latest cars will be allowed to drive in to infield. They would still like people to register by 10:30 but said cars can go until horses are on track a little after 11:00AM. I will try to reconfirm that timing with some one else later to be sure!! If you are driving down early Saturday it is about a 3 1/2 drive from Stringtown Road/Grove City exit on I - 71 so add your time from Dublin (30 minutes??) fro driving time!! Marty, will I be able to bring my Prowler trailer on the show field? Will we be allowed to set up canopies (I suspect not)? ------------------ |

Rich - Yes to the trailer, I am planning on taking mine in (assuming it arrives by then). I believe they ask that cars trailered to event be unloaded outside the track area. I will call them to confirm about our small trailers. Also, in the past I think I remember seeing "Can O Pees" as Ed has referred to them, but I will confirm that also. If they allow beer tents, concessions stands etc, I would think we should be OK on this, but I'll check just the same> Marty ------------------ Driving my Dream This message has been edited by Marty Usher on 02-13-2002 at 01:55 PM |

Welcome Irish - glad to hear you will be joining us in Louisville! We will look forward to meeting you. Here are some questions for those attending. We would like some input: 1.It has been suggested that we eliminate the 1/8 mile drag racing on Friday evening (unless that is the primary reason a number of people are attending) and give everyone a chance to meet, cruise, and have dinner together instead of splitting up since this is only a weekend long event. Is there anyone attending that REALLY wants to go racing? It's a local track; I can go anytime. Let us know what youn think. 2. For the Friday evening cruise, what length of time is reasonable for cruise? WE want to give everyone a nice look at the horsefarm countryside but realize a lot of people will have spent a long time on the road getting here. Does around 60 minutes sound right, then end at a restaurant for dinner? Rebecca and I are going to try out some sample courses through the countryside over the next several days. 3. Security for cars overnite at hotel. This Marriott fills up with cars during the National Street Rod Convention every August and has never had a problem with cars during that event, but the hotel will not assume responsibilty for any special security arrnagements. We will have a section of the parking lot roped off for our cars only as well as a car wash lane with hose & towels provided by the hotel. If we want security overnite we can hire a security guard and split cost among us. I am guessing cost would be somewhere in the $20.00 per hour range. What do you think?? Thanks for your replies.
