A couple of years ago I had to replace m/c headlights and I bought the high power ones. Then I looked at the expected life span and reconsidered. On a motorcycle they are always on and they are really a bite to replace on the Goldwing. You have to do it all by feel since you can't see what you are doing, your arm is filling the entire space. I wasn't in a rush to repeat the ordeal.
I should have re-read the thread.

Thanks for all the updates, watching with interest....

I drive with my lights on all the time so like the idea of brighter and cooler lamps and like to look of the LEDs.

Drove last night , kinda more flood than a piecing beam ,needed hi beams still. I like the bright white but I suggest getting highest lumens you can afford and look for ones that have either an led on each side ( as opposed to just single on one side ) or one with a crystal tube that goes around the stem to make more of a bulb.

I went out to eat and a long drive with my better half yesterday evening. Driving home in pitch black with no street lights in the middle of hicksville was very dark, could have used more light. I was afraid that a deer or moose was going to jump out in front and good by Kat. I have hit two deer in my life time and kept them both, they were very good lol. I would love to mount a set of fog lights somewhere but looking at the front of the Kat I am hard pressed to find a spot that looks good. Lighting has been a issue with me along with the speakers. I think I am selling, NOT.

They don't project out far enough. Stuff on the road comes up on you before you see it. Might be ok for city....other prob is the fan will keep you from fitting these in the high beam location.

Low beams ok ,but hi beams take a long time to " warm up" . May put reg bulbs back in for highs.

That would make sense, they do take a while to warm up. My RX8 with Xenons had them as dipped only and Halogen Hi beam. My Audi has the same light for Hi and dipped, there is a shutter that gets lifted on Hi allowing the beam to aim higher.

Glad to hear the dipped are OK.

I installed a set of Sylvania 9005 Silverstar Ultras and they have really made a big difference in night driving. They produce a bright white light and project farther down road and seem to have more side to side spread. They also come with a 1 year warranty.

I was told by a guy I used to work with that the Silver Stars don't last long. I hope either he was wrong or they have improved them.

There is some 12000 lumen on eBay .
http://www.ebay.com/itm/301978297204

But I recently bought the sylvania silver stars and realigned my headlights . Big difference. I pulled up to garage door and then backed off 10-15 feet. Turned on lights and then stood at center of car and observed the center of beam / spot on the door . I adjusted horizontal to make the spots equidistant from the center . WOW! Big difference!!
Between the adjustment ( bigger improvement) and silver stars I am MORE than pleased with my lights at night!! And I'm out in the sticks with the damn deer so I need all I can get . May now do silver stars in high beams.
Also just completed the blue dash LEDs . Very cool!!!!!!

I have heard from people and reviews that the Silver Stars don't last that long. They do have a one year guarantee on them.
