Infinity Reference would most likely be the choice they have all the same sizes as the Kappa series. Check on Crutchfirld.com. |

A lot of speakers will work. Depends a bit on your listening preference. I've tried Kicker, Boston Acoustic, and Polk Audio. I didn't care for the Kickers, Currently I have Boston Acoustic in the dash, and Polk Audio in the doors and in the rear. |

My 2001 prowler spreakers finally started to crackle, so I took a look at them. The woofer looked perfect so I am not touching it(foam still strong and plyable). The rears foam surrounds are just starting to breakdown. The door speakers are starting to flap, so they will be replaced (don't want to recondition them - I want the new non-foam surrounds). Now I have found a set that is not that expensive has the 2ohm voice coils (so it fits the power amp just fine). The Front and rear 3.5" (4 of them) will be Infinity Reference 3002cfx (Crutchfield, Amazon, Sonic Electronics) $75-99 per pair All speakers with durable rubber surrounds (no rot). Has anyone tried these yet?? ------------------ |

I have just replaced my front ones with Infinity Kappa 652.9I 2 way speakers. They are 6 1/2 inch so I had to make a reducer plate. I found they were good value and sound great. http://uk.infinitysystems.com/product-support-detail-12793/kappa-6529i.html |

For those of us still trying to maintain the stock stereo system, complete with six-disc changer, I referenced this old post to try to find the correct rear speakers. As an update, it seems as though the replacement unit for the smaller 3 1/2-inch (rear) speakers are these: Infinity Reference 3032cf 3.5-Inch, 75-watt High Performance Two-Way Loudspeaker - these speakers were $45 on Amazon. I will try to post the results of the attempted installation and function of these as an update to this older post regarding speaker replacement. Also a thank you to Buddy Collins for providing the six-disc changer replacement unit as these are apparently becoming somewhat unusual to find. Does anyone know if the malfunctioning six-disc changers can be serviced or sent somewhere as a core? Yes, I've been twice lectured regarding the bygone era of audio technology these units represent and how “everyone” should rush to abandon them. Some of us just don't give up on the 90s that easily.

So per my local Mopar dealer service advisor, the Infinity Reference 3032cf 3.5-Inch, 75-watt High Performance Two-Way Loudspeakers are too thick to fit into the Prowler (behind the driver and passenger). So do NOT buy those. Does anyone else know what speakers will fit? Also, I found a vendor on eBay who will repair 6-disc (Alpine) CD changers that look very similar to the ones in the Prowler, albeit this vendor wants to repair only the "BMW" marked ones. I did not receive a reply from this vendor asking if he would repair Mopar-marked units. I'll try again. I believe that its fair to say that the players are repairable, but a shop willing to tear them down and fix them is the key. Oh, by the way, the "Prowler Store" does not do anything with these despite claims to find any Prowler part. I am disappointed by this. |

I ordered the Infinity Reference 3002CFX 3-1/2" Two Way Car LoudSpeakers based upon a chat with a representative from the manufacturer, Infinity. The rep claimed these were the correct speakers, but per my Chrysler dealer they do not fit. There is a tab in the way and the magnet remains too big. Does anyone know what speakers, currently available, will fit behind the seats? [I am going to post this on the main thread as no replies in the "Technical Questions & Answers" forum for several days now] This message has been edited by drbutton on 11-10-2023 at 04:23 PM |
