Reposting this in the right section with correct dimensions.

This is to address the cosmetic issue of deteriorating grease boots on our VSLs. It involves taking an 1 1/2" ID piece of ABS pipe, drilling a hole in the center of it and cutting a slot along the length of it, through the hole.

The piece can then be painted silver or whatever. It then slides onto the VSL and snaps into place.

My part dimensions are:

1 1/2" ID ABS pipe
cut to 1 1/2' long
drilled a 7/16" hole in the center
cut a 1/4" wide slot along the length of it and through the hole.

To make it safer, I cut the slot in a longer piece of pipe on the table saw. and then cut the 1/12" sections off with a chop saw. Of course I drilled the holes first.

I feel like Harold in the Keys now

Roger, beautiful work.
You know I have two left legs as my arms, would it be ok if you ship me a set, and I can send some money for them?

That really wasn't my intent. It's a DIY mod. But if you don't mind waiting, perhaps a long time, I might make a few sets and send them out unpainted for testing and critique.

Did you remove the rubber and re-grease or slide over the old rubber?
