You could get new ones or for 6.00 you can fix both sides top and bottom.4.00 for just the tops. Why this happins,IMO it`s the grease touching the seal.the cracks and rot spot always have grease on them so they used the wrong kind of rubber for that kind of grease. I replaced my seals just before the DQ run and so far they`re holding up fine. What I used is (ready for this)is rubber chair tips 1 1/4 inch solf touch by waxman #4408 Got them at lowes 2.00 for two.For the top you cut them down to 1 inch drill a 11/16 hole in the center with a pattle bit.For the bottom drill same hole in center and a 1/2 hole in the side for the shaft. Getting them on is the hard part but they fit realy tight |

Now that looks like an interesting fix. All of mine are gone, didn't matter what the mileage was, they just fell apart at just about the same time on both cars. ------------------ |

Now there's some real inginuity. Mine are also shot, but I won't be able to fix them till I get home from Florida next month. I don't have the car here. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely give it a try. I was going to buy some urethane bar stock and turn some to fit, but this looks much simpler. |

I have seen jjprowler's work in person. Really nice, and the PRICE IS RIGHT! Jon, I'm going to do mine next week. Thanks a bunch for this, and the window regulator fix. The windows are working fine. |

If you are changing bushings, consider Larry Lords's Wonderbar. You will have a lot of the installation for the Wonderbar done while taking care of the bushings. |

JJ, Have you considered making up a batch of these covers and offering them for sale to the group? I replaced my stabilizer links last year when I installed the Wonder Bar (99 with 9K miles. They were torn just like yours (and everyone else's). The links are expensive, and I really have no intention to replace them again when the boots tear/rot again. Back on May 29, 2007 Scooter1 was kind enough to post the details on these stabilizer link 'dust covers'. I had sent him my 'old' ones with 6k miles on them. It seems that the boots are not really necessary for proper function of the link's joint. You can find Scooter1's post at the link below. http://www.prowleronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/016427.html |

That boy sure knows his stuff, right Ed? If it can be repaired or changed for the better, Jon will find a way to do it! Now if I can only get my original stabilizers back....

Morning Wally. Yup, Jon does know his stuff. He is always thinking of a better way to do things. It was a really enjoyable day. After the car got 'enhanced', we took both Prowlers to a car show up at the Harley dealership. Had a rack of ribs, and saw some nice rides. Sorry you were out of town. Three cats would have even be better. Next time! Ed PS - Soon we may have electric powered Cats. Like I said, Jon is always thinking... |

JJJ, Is the bottom of the stabilizer link held on by 18mm nut? It's hard to get a wrench between the nut and frame. Suggestion? |

Brian remove the top two bolts first. They`re long and have nuts on the back, then push down and the sway bar will rotate makeing the bottom nuts easy to get to.You will need a torx bit to hold the stud to break the nut loose.OR you can take a little run up to Daytona and I`ll do it for you no charge, you got my # Jon |
