I'm having a hard time putting gas in my Kat. I've tried different gas stations but I still can't get it to fill the tank. When I try to put the gas in it the Lever on the nozzle trips like if you have a full tank, but I know it can take gas and my gas gage seems to be working fine. Thanks in advance for your help..... |

Try tilting the nozzel to a 4:00 position. It has helped me in the past. |

If your cat is older 97 to 99, you may have to change the filler tube. I had the same problem with my 99, I installed the replacement filler tube and hose and it helped quite a bit, however, every once in a while I still have a little bit of trouble. Hope this helps |

I have a 2001 that had this problem. There is a service bulletin for this problem and my dealer did the correction without charge about a year and a half ago. I can tell you from experience that if you press the nozzle in as far in as possible and ETMIDZT said, tilt it to four o'clock you should be ok. The bulletin # is 14-04-99. If you double click on the following, it will take you to the page of this website. http://www.prowleronline.com/techbulletin.php This message has been edited by Bob Miller on 12-15-2006 at 12:07 PM |

You need to replace tube# 4786478AD, and hose# 4865372AA. per TSB # 14-04-99. [ This message has been edited by David Veu Casovic on 12-15-2006 at 12:42 PM |

In the meantime before you get the TSB done. If the ground is not level make sure the drivers side of the car is on the lower side. Leaning downhill away from the pump. |

I had the same problem with the first 99. Had the tube replaced and only had that problem once or twice after that. My gas gauge was an entirely diff. problem. |

Thanks for all your help.. I will change the tube and hose. How hard are they to change? Should I leave it to a Dealer to fix? My Kat's a 99.. Anyone know about what it cost to get this done by a Dealer? Thanks again for all your guys help..... |

It is not very difficult to change if you have some mechanical dexterity, it is a little tight getting to the tank. |

Just jack up rear of kat and take off the right rear tire, alot more room to work in. Don't forget to use jack stands, gas tank needs to be 1/4 tank or less. |

My '99 was done when it was still under warranty, but I still have the problem sometimes. I still try to pull in so the driver's side is tilted away from the pump and I still hold the nozzle at 4:00 |

I had this problem on my 99........it was driving me crazy. I had the dealer replace the filler neck tube assembly. Now the Kat takes fuel as fast as any Michigan pump can deliver. I notice that Ohio pumps, which have some sort of vapor recovery system, did cause a 'kick off' , but the problem was vastly improved! |

I also did the TSB in my own garage in about an hour (taking my time) and it was pretty easy to do. It generally fixed the problem. Funny how a smaller diameter filler tube seems to fix this. This message has been edited by Kevin A on 12-18-2006 at 08:26 AM |
